REVIEW: Dual 1219 rebuild by NoTransistors

Why do birds bite?
Because they can.
Greys are far from sweet. So it was not you, it was the bird.
Amazons, on the other hand, are usually just very sweet and incredibly smart. I should have gotten one of those.
A rare bird that starts with "C"? Hyacynth Cockatoo, Palm Cockatoo, Assorted types of Conures. As your friend, as I am curious.

I think I remembered... it was a Cape. He became my new best bud once he got to know me.

No wonder why I never heard of it. They are ultra-rare as pets and endangered in the wild.
For that matter, nearly all parrots are endangered because of human stupidity and selfishness. My Rainbow lorikeet is rare, and most sub-species of lorikeets are nearly extinct.
Did you know that the East Coast states had their own native parrot [yes, parrots do live in snowy places], and the poor things were shot to extinction. Not even one mating pair left. Like the Dodo bird.

I did hear that from my bird loving friend.

I talked to him more today. His 5 birds are the Cape, the African Grey, A Blue and Gold Macaw, and red and green Amazon (?) and I already forgot the 5th - sheesh.

BTW, to keep on topic, I got my 601 set up with a new cartridge and it sounds great. Really great. I used a paper protractor to align the cartridge. I have no idea if I did it 100% correctly, I hear music, and it sounds good. Now I need to do the maintenance things, like order a new belt, and the clutch thingy you mentioned to get the automatic working.

I picked up some TarnX and I will clean the headhshell contacts gently.

Our familliarity with that song demonstrates how old some of us are. I have a record [all are packed in boxes now] with The Trashmen singing the song.

Great thread guys! (Yes, I know it's a year old)

Just got a free Dual 1219 from a local record shop owner that included a Shure V15 type iii cart. It looks like it needs all of the usual cleaning and lubing and maybe a new steuerpimpel. The motor runs and the tonearm bearings feel good. Now I've got a winter project...

Yes! I had mentioned some minor repairs to a few belt drive Duals and he told me that he had a Dual in his car. Brought in a 1219 with the cartridge detached. Told me it was mine if I wanted it. I guess he had no interest in repairing it. Didn't realize it had the Shure V15 until I got it home.

Great score! Sure have fun with my Dual family! Once fixed up they are trouble free!

Eric

Yes, I really like the Duals for what they are. No, they won't beat a Thorens, but for the price they sound really good.
So far I've had a 504, 521 and currently a 510 with Shure V15 Type III

With my average understanding level of English written in this topic, all I know that I envy you guys for having a DUAL 1019/1219.
Where I live there are no turntables mechanics, but I contacted a seller from the other part of my country to find and bring me a Dual 1019/1219... I did find a 1219 at $250 in another district and another one at the same price but with marble plynth, but with my known bad luck, I will wait for the mechanic/seller to find me one and fix it.
So, treasure the ones who really know to fix your turntables. They are a real treasure!
Happy Christmas, everyone!
