Running multiple Turntables

I am running a Kenwood Basic M1 Amp with a C1 controller, I want to use two turntables and the C1 has only one phono input. What do I need to hook up the other Turntable?

I have seen those cheap ones for $30 to $75 will they work well. If not can you recommend one. The lab is Sam she won't fit in her water bowl anymore but now I can't keep her out of the pool.

Great phono pre for the money - Hagerman Bugle. It bet it would become your primary phono amp.

What is your budget for a phono preamp? I found a older Creek OBM-8 with the upgraded power supply for $100. Great value for the dollar.

I used a $15 switch box from Rat Shack. Seemed to work okay, but vinyl is not my primary source.

Watch it, a cheap preamp will sound like garbage, particularly if the rest of your setup is quality. That was my experience at least. You'll have distortion at the top and bottom ends, and in general it'll hold your table and cartridge back.

You can use a two channel mixer. Connect both TT's to the mixer and the mixer to the amp.

I've got a yellow female too, though you're more likely to find her on a feather mattress. Likes her comforts.

You more or less get what you pay for, though I've heard some of the inexpensive older Radio Shack units were pretty good value. I've got a Rotel I use when needed, not the worlds best but about $100 used and I'm happy with it.

I have the same box, but I had mine configured for 2 inputs, since I didn't
plan on ever running 5 turntables. I also had some low capacitance interconnects made up to connect to the preamp. Contact Dan at DB Systems

The Soundsmith in Peekskill NY makes phono preamps. I was there yesterday and they have quite a variety although some are quite pricey, their products in general are top notch. Their website is www.sound-smith.com.

nad pp2 is pretty good bang for the buck at about $100. has mm and mc selection and if you really wanted to , you can run two tables thru it (one with a mm and one with amc cart) if you won't be swithing them all the time. i talked to nad directly about doing that and they said it would work fine used like that. nad's early phono stages were the cats meow and this one is no slouch either! actually , it is much better than the early ones IMO.

Thanks for all the info but I was looking for some kind of switch box something small The only free input I have is tape 2. I run the CD player in the aux.

The switch box is probably the cheapest solution (switches can add noise!) but you could run a phono preamp into tape 2...it doesn't have to go into aux...

you can connect the phono preamp to tape 2 'in' as well if you don't use that loop. another nice bang for buck phono pre is the parasound Zphono. $150 at Acoustic Sounds is where i found mine.

What you want is the Niles Audio PS-1: a high quality, fully isolated A/B line level switch box. TT #1 and #2 leads plug into the PS-1, run a pair of leads to your phono input. Its fine to run both TT's ground leads to the ground post on your amp. Voila, done!

I have a Mixer/preamp unit. Worked beauty the last time I used it hooked up to the computer.

Reminds me to dig it out and knock the dust from it.
