Acquired one of these and could not find out which Sansui tube models this was
made for. Anybody know? Thanks.

Generally Multiplex Adapters were designed to be a "UNIVERSAL" adapter. Meaning if it needed an adapter, you could use any of them out there. By the 1964 model year, anything that had FM, usually had FM Multiplex Stereo. So they were fairly shortlived ,1960 to 1964 as an outboard adapter.

I know FISHER made 1 or two models right at the beginning of Multiplex before the FCC had made their decision as to which system would be used. Although FISHER lost $$ on the MPX-20 (the crosby system multiplexer unit for the R202-T) they made it up with the sales of the MPX-100 and MPX-200.

The Sansui FM-8 is the matching tuner.

It is shown in the manual for the AU-70 amplifier.

See the pictures below.

There were some stand alone MPX adapters and some that required that operational power be supplied by the tuner.

Interesting stuff, and yes I am old, because I remember those "good old days". :D:D

That is a cool and unusual-looking tuner. Looks like it was made for the non-Japanese market, too.

Wasn't there a third stand-alone Fisher unit for use in consoles, besides the three or four drop-in units?

MPX 10 was standalone, Mpx-20 was drop in, both Crosby system. The MPX-100, 200, and everything after that were GE System.

MPX-70 was the one I was trying to think of. It's very similar to the three-tube drop-in units for the tuners and receivers, but made to stand alone inside a cabinet.
