Scroes You Passed on Because Quarantine?

Being locked down can cause couch potato syndrome. If there is gym equipment that can be gotten safely, it's a good way to stay in shape. We bought a pro treadmill, recumbent bike, and weight machine for peanuts in the 08 downturn and we still use it all daily. The good equipment lasts forever in the home setting. I was never one to go to the gym, always thought it was sort of like a petri dish.
Same here; I never cared to work out in a gym and instead invested in some quality home equipment which has been getting plenty of use since this all started.

There is a JVC QL-Y5F turntable for $125 I am chomping at the bit to grab. Virus germs are not an issue but spending $ on an item I clearly don't need is. Great deal though.

Here's an odd one that I've noticed lately is weight lifting equipment seems to be all or nothing. I've been watching the prices for a while and with the gyms being closed I've watched some equipment like free weights and dumbells really take off in price . A bit of American price gouging no doubt as it's easy enough to disinfect these items. But at the same time I've also noticed some cable machines are being listed as free. My guess is there's not much of a market for these machines that someone has perspired all over and are difficult at best to disinfect.

Loads of it turns up at my recycling source. Most in perfect condition too. There is definitely demand for the big machines but it’s all about having space to store them whilst waiting for a buyer, not worth the hassle for me. It all goes for export

Being careful with your money at this time is one thing but if you can afford it than just use common sense.
If they can show it working on the porch or back yard picnic table just stand back as they demonstrate it. For stuff that can't be tested or the seller doesn't have a clue on how to it must be really cheap. Handing the seller money isn't going to infect you and you can always wear gloves. Open the trunk of your car and have the seller place in in there. Leave it in the trunk for several days before handling it.
Talk to the seller before going to look at the item and let them know your concerns, anyone with half a brain will gladly work with you. If not, run the other way.

I haven't done any buying in the last few weeks but I have my eye on a couple of things. I know I could transfer them safely, but then I go back to what my wife would do to me if I brought another audio thing home. And I'm 70 and have rebuilt parts in my body, so the increased risks are holding me back too. I don't want my kids to deal with stuff if I croak from this thing.

There will always be scores, your family will not always have you.

Stay home, stay safe, enjoy what you have.

I've acquired and sold so much vintage and not so vintage gear cheap over the last fifteen years that scroes do not entice me.I have enough gear to keep me happy until long after I'm gone. With that being said no,I am not venturing out for this bs.

I've been buying broken stuff for a while, with the quarantine I've been spending HOURS in the garage learning and asking questions of the AK experts.

My company (Boeing) said it's going to be offering voluntary layoffs soon, it's a scary time to be thinking of retirement but if retirement is as much fun as the last two weeks I'm in (after consulting my CFO, of course).

I wouldn't mind being retired but at age 58 and only twenty years (50% of salary) in with my employer it just ain't happening yet.I'm afraid I'd start hitting the bottle too much also.I have been enjoying the stay at home order because I have been getting a lot of house stuff and audio stuff but its the times when one has to go out for necessities and my work( healthcare) that has be worried.

Today, I put together a list of things I want to do. The theory is that I put in house, wife, and my wants into the list, there is a good chance we will get a good number of them completed. As well, there is the personal satisfaction of crossing something off lists that feels really good. Regardless, I got my first item crossed off my list (Ikea kitchen cabinetry coming apart), and two others started today. Actually, I started one on March 20th and the other today. Both audio related. I've been going through my record collection with a view of reducing the collection. I've already pulled out about 400 records and continue to do so. It is a matter of deciding what I can let go, and what I'm definitely keeping. The easy part of that is done. Now I am at the stage where I went through 6 records from one artist, and put 4 of those in the for sale pile. It isn't always easy, but it is helping a lot. Plus, and this was item two that I started today, I am cataloging all of the records I go through into discogs. I should have started to do this a long time ago, but was too busy. With all this spare time, I have lots of time to do this. And I'm listening to records non stop. :beerchug:

Once I finish that, I have a speaker crossover I have to rebuild, clean and set up a Garrard Zero 100, and try to fix at least one of the three cassette decks sitting in my project drawer.

At 56, I've got 31+ years banging my head against the corporate concrete wall, I'm done. If I take a VLO (if it's offered to my skill set) I'll get six months pay, cheap retiree medical, a pension and 31 years of 401K. I'm good.
