WOW~~!

The layout of the Sun Valley DHSE amplifier is an Art form.

So pleasing to the eye. Top is nice also. PolyStyrene capacitors FTW.

Hashimoto... :)

Once you go Direct Heat your not going back.

Do you have his hotrod amp, the tube rollers dream? curious what you think of it?
Nope, none under the inspire brand. All my amps and preamps are ones he designed when he was with either Cary, or Audio Designs. He and his wife founded Cary, and the amps were designed by him as well. Audio Designs also were his designs, which I though went under the title of AES. I know this one pair of mono blocks under that name were his designs, They are mono's using the 811-3 tube as the output tube, single ended, zero feedback, really nice amps. One has to wonder how Billy Wright is feeling about owning a company founded by and most of its following was due to designs by Mr. Had now his competitor. Most companies would require a non-compete clause when buying a company, especially when the business had so much at stake with the designers following.

I don't put much difference between a Cary amp or an Inspire amp, pretty much the same in my eyes other than the scale of numbers put out.

Yes his ebay store. I wonder who winds his transformers'? They don't look very large for some of his SET amps.

Dennis left Cary under circumstances that he wishes to keep private but if you can read between the lines, you can figure it out. He had a one year non-compete, and I remember him working on projects on his living room table during this period. As far as I know, Cary has not had a significant new tube design since that time. Dennis will never retire, he loves what he does too much. However he is 81 now, so take that into account as well.

As far as his new Inspire line, Dennis builds much of every piece himself. Ask yourself, how much of Cary's output did he ever build himself? It's like Saul Marantz building you one of his tube amps personally. His iron is made by a very well respected manufacturer who essentially only builds iron for Dennis these days. However their identity is a trade secret ;)

With respect to his 45 amps, he has both a standard 45 amp and a parallel single ended 45 amp as well (See x3 Workshop's post). This is a standard 45 amp that was just completed.

I won't expound on the sound except to say it's everything you think it would be and more.

If you're interested in learning more, send me a DM.
I can put you in touch with Dennis as well
