after listening to my first built tuba, and hearing how clean it sounded and effortlessly blended with my mains I was hooked. I don't think I could go back to a direct radiator for subs anymore.

Here's my speakers.

Old picture as I removed the Klipsch KG-4 horns a few months ago. Also the subs have recently been replaced with a pair of JL 12W6 subs.

hmmmmmmmm...there is something just not right about that room Tube Radio...something just not quite in the right place...hmmmmmm...I got nothin'. :D

There are a lot of impressive DIY projects in this thread. All I've ever built are Dayton 8's. They're about 50" tall. This shot is about a year old. The guitar amps have been moved over and stereo gear and speakers have been moved in. :D

Here are my trusty econowave speakers, still in use 3+ years after building the cabinets:

main.php

These are pretty much the original "classic" pattern, Selenium D220ti + Pyle waveguide, with a Eminence Delta 12LFA woofer. The woofer (and hence crossover) was a later upgrade, which is why the fit is not perfectly snug.

I have the Econowave crossovers in an external box, so I can easily change to active and tinker with a miniDSP - though most of the time I use the passive crossovers as it sounds great and it means less cables and amps cluttering the room:

.. although very satisfied with the Seleniums, following Zilch's motto of "more data, less wank" I know higher end compression drivers measure better, so I'm just about to embark on an experiment with some Faital Pro drivers & waveguides....

Those are beautiful! I still have my Large Advent E-Waves with the Selenium D220ti + Pyle waveguide, but I don't use them anymore. I was considering getting a large Eminence bass driver, but I can't find cabinets to put it all in. Do you know where there are cabinets available I could purchase?

I didn't build the cabinets but put them together and painted them. I swear I didn't copy zog's design. Mine have 1 port in the rear.

I did build these guys. Altec 416 woofer and Heil AMT tweeter.

This are my cardboard speakers:

1 Peerless 831916 woofer + 1 Audax HD100 tweeter, 1st order crossover + tweeter attenuation, in a ported enclosure. They sound great, but still need some xover tweaking, mid-range is a bit forward, I'll try a 2nd order x the woofer.

Cardboard works. A new rage over at DIYaudio is building foam board speakers. I'm itching to build some foam board spiral horns.

I heard a pair of cardboard speakers recently. They sounded pretty good, I have no idea how much better if any they'd sound in a "better" cabinet.

Cardboard is for shoe boxes, corregated paper is for typical boxes! A small lesson I would like to offer here.......interesting speakers.

My wife works at a box corregation compny and has learned me well as to the differances......

I recently built a Bill Fitzmaurice T18 horn sub. My diy projects got a lot easier to build with the addition of a bigger table saw equipped with an out feed table, and saw sled that i built.

my only criticism is the sides should have been plexi so one could see all the work you put in!
