I am kinda new around here. I have mostly got started in vintage electronics because I am a poor college student and i do not have the money to buy anything new. But then I realized just how awesome some of the stuff sounded and I was hooked.
The stuff that I have is not as quite as old as some of the stuff that I have found, I figure it is old enough to be considered vintage by now. Bot amps I have are circa '84-'85.
First is the amp that I have been using for a while: TA-FA444 ESII
I have not really been able to find anything on this one, but it sounds awesome to be. It has more power than I would ever need plus it is nice and simple, the way I like my electronics. The only problem with this amp is that it is not truly mine. My father still wants it back once I find a suitable replacement for it, and after much searching I think I found one
TA-AX500
I always like the silver look better than the black look so it is already ahead. From what little info I have found these two amps are pretty simaliar, though the AX500 is a bit older. I just recently scored the AX500 off ebay for about $50, which I consider a steal considering how good it sound. Right now the AUX input does not work and the volume knob needs cleaning, but it sounds beautiful and it pretty simple so it is a winner in my book.
The only thing I have heard either of these amps drive is a pair of Sansui S-930's that I picked up a few years ago. They are not the greatest speakers in the world but, they work well considering how small my dorm room is at my school.
