Silverplate face cleaning

I take them apart and wash with a very weak solution of Simple Green and warm water.

Magic Eraser and microfiber cloths are both slightly abrasive. Usually microfiber is as far as I need to go.

Hi Jim, u might have looked at my post buy id like to show a few pics here, scrubbing bubbles works and is harmless , used it for years it makes the grime run right off and has not hurt any of my printing or plastic /glass, remove the knobs put them in a bowl spray them, remove the face spray the face, let them set for a few min , run them under warm water wiping with your hand, like new.

Thanks for the feedback.

thanks. My only concern is how to take off the face plate and knobs. I'm a novice and dont want to screw it up.
There appears to be dust behind the window in the tuner bar area. It appears I have some cleaning to do......

yes the rear of the glass will be dirty maybe also. just start by pulling knobs off they should come off , you should only need a few screws removed Jim to have the face come off, start with the knobs and the top cover, take ur time

J31088 - thank you for your directions. I did as you suggested however I could not remove the faceplate. Once I took the shell off, I could only find 4 screws (2 on the top and 2 under the base) but it seemed like there were others holding it. Anyway, i carefully cleaned the face with scrubbing bubbles and a soft cloth and damn! Did it clean up nicely.
UNFORTUNATELY - when I hooked it up to my speakers and turntable.....NOTHING! It lit up nicely but now AM/FM or turntable sound.
I have to make note of one thing, I had just purchased and received it via eBay and it was said to b in good working condition. SHAME ON ME for assuming they did more that just turn it on. I am truly bummed. Shame shame shame.... but it does look nice....

I tested it both pressed in and out. I have my SX680 owners manual and looked up troubleshoot tips on line as well.
Thanks for asking though
