Notorious..No .But it does have a part that needs to be replaced in the primary power supply..A X2 suppression cap.The bulletin is primarily for EU units operating on 220V.This particular unit has a bad one as well.

The tuning meter looks a lot like my T-1 meter but on steroids. How's it sound? I listen daily to my lights up T-2 on tube power and I like it but without lights..
Report back on the T-2 after re-cap. Maybe I'll have to do the same when I feel like getting a lighted dial in mine.

Thanks. I think a few comments I've read here and there on these forums have poisoned my thinking with regard to my Yamaha amps, both of which have a similar power supply design. I'm gonna use 'em and forget about it. Sorry to drag that up... yet again.

Finally got a chance to look a little deeper and guess what .It started to intermittently mute. and now have a constant mute situation:scratch2: Going to swap out the LC chip this weekend.

Odd, I never had that issue, just the memory.

I think there's a cap in there I installed to replace one I thought was burnt/broken, but may just have been cut by the factory, don't recall if I took it back out. let's look up my old thread on that tuner.

Well swapped out the 7200 chip------No more mute..but the preselect still does the same thing. Looks like its time for vintageaudiomanuals :thmbsp:
 
:yes::yes::lurk: Interesting what you think of the M70. And what you do with it. Ive gopt one and its my main amp. Its not the end all be all. But it gets the job done. How much to do a C70 and M70 refurb?:music::yes:

M-70 is a Krank'n very nicely.:music:
All it needed was a suppression cap, X2 rated
.22uf/250v

and an alignment of the power supply,opto coupler,Bias and offset.Offset was so far off it kept the amp in protect ie.700mv. But it adjusted right down to zero nicely. Still need to do something about the on/off switch illumination.:yes: I like the orange-red bar graph.Nice change from the blood red of my other M-series amps.Guess I'll put and amber LED in the power switch.

I was the lucky bastard when I happened upon this M-70/C-2 pairing at the local thrift, hoping to sell the M-70 to pay for the preamplifier( I have 5 M-Series amplifiers already).
After listening to the pair i decided to oft a NAD amp/preamp and keep the Yammies.
The Yamaha combo sounds so good driving either a pair of ADS L-1530s(95db sensitivity) or my Infinity QLS-2's, running rather warm exactly like a M-50 I used to have, but basically running the same temperature at high or low volume levels... even in triple digit heat.

Just rec'd the M-65.Exterior looks fantastic..To get it back to better than new electronically is going to run close to $150 in parts..:yikes:
