And then sold it for $75. But, I think bolly gave his STR-7800 away.

Someone sure got a "bolly"!!!!! :D

Why would he do that? It's the best of the vintage Sony Receivers. :scratch2:

Au contraire......the STR-6200F or STR-6120 are the best vintage Sony receivers. Built like the ST-5000FW tuner. The STR-7800 comes in third in my book. Which means it is one very fine piece of gear. :thmbsp:

With all due respect, I disagree. The STR-7800 is No. 1 and the 6200F and 6120 (which are mostly the same) share No. 2. The STR-7800 EASILY outpowers them both, has a much BEEFIER power supply, better specs in every respect and has a significantly better tuner. I don't even think they're in the same league! However, I will agree that for their time the No.2s were No. 1!! :D

Well you both are a little off. The few years I owed the Sony STR-V7 I was pretty certain that it was the best TOTL they ever shipped.

So there

Sorry dudes, the 6800, 7800, V7 etc are ugly machines.

The 6200 is beautiful and has a full wood case.

Given that they are so close spec-wise, the decision goes to the 6120/6200, in my not so humble opinion.

My I suggest a 'listen off' at the next AK fest? :thmbsp: I'll bring a stock, but aligned STR-6200F and STR-V7. Some one else bring the STR-7800. The proof will be in the listening.
