Will I devalue the JBL Apollo C51 by changing the speaker binding post to a modern type?

Typically those types of changes won't harm the value and in many cases may slightly increase the value as perspective buyers generally tend to see that as a desired upgrade (at least I do.) The cosmetic appearance generally tends to improve too as most older binding posts look cheap and aesthetically unpleasing.

That said, you you are changing the original design/appearance, and some purists may not be pleased.

I say change the posts if you want to change them and don't worry about any kind of value loss. I've never once seen someone complain about binding posts being upgraded.

When I change terminals on any highly collectible equipment I may resell later, I always try to keep the originals, just in case the buyer might prefer stock. So far I have not experienced any loss of value when selling equipment with binding post or power connector upgrades.

I'd personally not mind at all buying an older set of speakers where inferior original inputs were replaced, so long as the change looked professional, and the speakers were not butchered any way to do it.

I hate spring clips for example, and swapped them for binding posts. I did it in a way that looked factory. I sold them later, and the buyer preferred them.

Thanks now my problem is...I just found out the LX7 crossovers are sealed so there is no way of upgrading the post.

You could re-create (and possibly upgrade) the crossovers, and that would allow the upgrade of the terminals.
