Has anyone tried changing the flimsy spring loaded speaker clip to a 5way binding post? I've decided that I really, really hate the clippy thing and want to change it over to a more sturdy binding post. Thnaks!

I have the first generation Alphas . The ones with the non removable grills . The cup with the posts has no screw so it's glued on to the panel , I think . I was not able to get the panel off as I think it too has been glued on . Even tho I took off all the screws I was not able to pull it off . I tried pulling it so hard that I dropped it on the floor and made a dent on the corner !:tears:
I did this to a pair of BA70s and that was a snap . The cup was screwed on . All I did was unscrew it , pull off the wires and then do the reverse with the new one .
I hope you get better advice than what I just gave you . I hope the picture helps anyone else who may want to chime in .

The only thing I can tell you is if you can use power tools, anything is possible.
Is the x-over on the cup or is it seperate? If it's not incorporated on the back of the cup, it's a simple matter of cutting out the size of the new terminal plate. Solder back the wires to the new 5way from the x-over and you're done. Not that hard a job. Just make sure the new 5way is bigger then your existing cup, so the old hole is completely covered.
