Looking at a pair of Coral BX-1401

Have owned several sets of Pioneer CS-99 and CS-99a

These Corals seem like a pretty solid build

Any advice would be appreciated

I'd pass. They bear the trademarks if a kabuki speaker- over sized woofer, too many drivers. If you're looking for speakers, tell us what equipment you have and styles of music you enjoy.

I'd pass too, unless you can scoop them up cheap - then I'd play with them for awhile. Kabuki for sure and there's going to be a lot going on there especially in the highs - but there's a vid on d'tube and considering all of the format limitations, etc., they really sound pretty good.

You might want to search this forum for "Coral BX-1401" including quotes if you haven't already.

Coral seems to be fairly well respected so I would not dismiss these TOO quickly, despite what they look like.

I have had good experience with KL-777A , CS-99a , and CS-99,

Sansui SP-200, JVC VS-5342

All sound pretty good to me

30 x 15 listening room

Have an RX-V1

RT-707

Sony PS-X6

The 1401's just seem well built and I've seen overall good report on Coral in general
