Speaker Glue?

What kind(s) of glue should be used to help seal the cabinets (interior/exterior) of acoustic suspension speakers and ported speakers that the joinery has loosened?

Wood glue and a couple of large clamps always worked well for me.

The glue is less the issue than is how to get it in the joint. You kind of need to knock the joint (and the whole speaker) apart. Once you can get at the glue surfaces, almost any decent glue will do. And clamps.

Plain old Elmer's will make the joint stronger than the original wood in some cases.

Perfect. I have clamps, slide clamps, and glue. I opted for wood glue type II for immediate gratification and veneer and type III for everything else, especially if visible.
I also used fabric glue to adhere grill cloth to the frames.


So I take it rubber cement, super glue, model glue, epoxy, silicone glue, glass glue, and shoe goo are not wise choices for fixing speaker cabinets and frames.

Wood glue ... works! For a real air tight seal, assured, with little residual running.. I have used silicone sealant as well with excellent results .

Since I am not a master cabinet maker I seal all the joints internally with a fillet bead of caulking just to be sure.
