Speaker ID : Gold or dud?

I just saw this listing and for some reason thought it would be a Bozak speaker.
looked at the next picture and it doesn't quite seem like it.
Is this a homemade kabuki speaker?

That'd be my guess, and built by someone who couldn't even be arsed to make both front baffles the same.

It looks like the front baffles may be the same and one is just missing a cover plate over part of it so to speak. And one speaker appears to have a port and the other one not.

Might be worth checking what the drivers are. The tweets don't look like anything special but the whizzer cones on the "mids" give me pause. You also never know what might get shoehorned in for woofers.

My vote is gold. Frist of all there is nothing kabuki about them. Tweeter, mid, woofer; many companies have used multiples of a driver. As for the baffle - I imagine someone going from a mono setup to a two-way and the manufacture tweeked the model. The cabs look well made.

I'm going to say gold. The speaker on the left has some sort of panel that doesn't exist on the speaker on the right. Perhaps they're configurable? They have a Bozak/University/Heathkit feel to me.

Some people toss around the Kabuki term for anything that doesn't have the generic "three driver" design. This does not qualify as Kabuki. My vote is they are organ/church/sound reinforcement speakers for a location that required wood grain vs black/tolex. The mismatched baffles probably signifies they were built at different times, maybe a year or two apart, by a small company. Look at all the variety you see in DCM Timeframes for crying out loud!

Can't imagine they are, but he coloration of the speakers on the left makes me think tannoy, but why wouldn't I want to think that.

Tweeters look like EMI, very high quality cone tweeter, on par or better than the Peerless or Bozak.

A look inside will answer many questions.

I get no DIY vibe whatsoever, they appear very premeditated to say the least.

The baffles are the same, one has just had a scab added to it.

Organ tone cabinet is very plausible.

If the Left plate/baffle were flipped side to side and mounted inside the box as it appears to be on the Right one, they would match a little closer, with the Left side having a port.... Maybe they were made with different baffle boards to modify the sound as wanted??? I'd take em to try if they were cheap enough!!

Whatever they are, they were built in a factory and not a garage/basement.
