I haven't picked them up yet. I'm sure you can see the Pioneers (CS-XX) in the background. She said I can have those too.
THOSE (the Pioneers) are worth having and I'd take both regardless of how the Filips sound. You've done her a favor taking it all off her hands and you can always give them away.

I would never turn down free unless . . .
A bit off topic, but I cringe every time I see stacked speakers like that. I always use a towel, rag, or even cardboard between speakers so as not to scratch the finish any more than it is already. Treat wood veneer well and it will last forever.

Yes, I had a pair of CS-99a speakers drop in my lap for $7.50. I wasn't blown away by the sound, so I listed them for sale on the usual outlets (not the auction site). My phone was dinging like crazy! I knew of their reputation as being a very popular model, but I wasn't prepared for the onslaught. I sold them to the first one that could show up with cash. I got $225, which is not much for that model, but I was looking to move them along instead of waiting for a crazy number that is generally asked ($500 on up).THOSE (the Pioneers) are worth having and I'd take both regardless of how the Filips sound. If they are free and you can make your commute worth your while to pick up something good, then these could be useful as well. Test speakers you hook to an amplifier you are testing. Even the cabinets may be not bad to use with different drivers you may have handy and make something useful. If you are into this type of DIY.

Oh, I'm going to get them, I was just trying to find info. I've never seen that nameplate/brand before. Not expecting high-end gear, considering she also has a Knight amp and tuner and some small 90's Advents. I am curious as to what model the Pioneer speakers are. There's also a pile of cassette decks, DVD players, etc. I told her I would take it all and donate what I can't use.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss that Knight gear. They made some very nice tube gear and there are many folks that would love to have it.

Not dismissing the Knight gear, just pointing out that there’s no highly sought-after equipment here. I’ll enjoy tinkering with whatever vintage stuff she’s offering.I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss that Knight gear. The pioneer cassette deck with dbx is pretty good. I’ve had one since it was new, whenever that was.

Clearly a sealed cabinet, size is 18” x 11” x 9”. Real wood veneer and solid wood trim, above average build quality. Very good condition, with perfect grills and badges. I love the grill cloth, not a flaw or snag (just pet hair). Still haven't found any info online, but I'll keep looking. The sound is a nice surprise. No foam problems. I think the surrounds have some kind of sealer, but thankfully it hasn't hardened like some i've seen. I tried to pry out the woofer to look at the crossover, but the black sealant is hard as a rock, and the thing wouldn't budge, so I quit trying for now.

They turned out to be CS-500G speakers. Vinyl covered cabinets with plastic grills. Like most of that series, the tweeter needs a refoam, and the tone controls are dirty and causing the drivers to drop in and out. I once owned those Baby Advents and remember them fondly as a great sounding speaker for small systems ,or used as sound reinforcement ,there's quite a few Advent guys around here who may like to own those little suckers .

I mentioned that I tried to pry out the woofer, but the sealant is hardened, and I didn't want to damage anything. They sound very good in my opinion, so I'm satisfied to leave them alone...for now.
