Speakers you will NEVER sell.

After getting my crossovers back today from ak sponsor Carl's Speaker Repair I'd have to say it's my polk 2.3s. The crossovers are installed and have many hours to go before they're fully broken in. So far though listening impressions are quite favorable. Don't need to boost the mids like I used to and bass seems to have improved to the point that I don't need to use the loudness contour. I liked em before and now I really like my new and much improved polks.:banana: Thank goodness for ak and sponsors like Carl. Yup these speakers will never go anywhere if I have any say in the matter.

I don't think I can bring myself to sell any of them, at least for now......still trying to find that perfect set up.......maybe I will have to answer that in a few years.
 
I prefer speakers from smaller, relatively unknown company's. That way, I can then proclaim they sound great, and knowbody follows the post up with an argument.
 
My Crown ES-212's...
They will be sold when (all together now) "you pry them from my dead, cold hands".

Or... if (God forbid) they get zapped by lightning... at which point someone will probably be able to help themselves to the charred leftovers from the curbside. :-D
 
I've come to realize that speakers are like women to me. I love them at first but after awhile I just want to see what else is out there. I don't say that to be crass. Marriage to me is like being locked in a closet with one book your whole life, forced to read it again and again. Marriage to speakers is the same.

But I currently engaged, happily, to my Sony SS-m7s.
 
Id have to say I have two pair Id never part with. First would be my JBL C36s that were given to me by Brother in law so logically I really cant part with them. And second would be my VOTTs because everytime I think about maybe parting with them I get the opportunity to be home alone and get to "rock the house"(literally) and every single time I always end up sitting there shaking my head in amazement.
 
Maybe these Dynaco A25s because they're so reasonably sized and sound great.
Then again, if I ever want another pair, all I have to do is jump online and spend the money :dunno:

BTW, the La Scalas have taken a back seat to something else.

Never say never :D
 
I love my Kappa 8's and have just picked up a pair of Infinity QLS 1's up north. They are in 9.5 condition and are a welcomed addition to my sound room.(I think I'm bragging)... Wanted these for the last 25 years!

I keep changing amps, preamps, tubes, cartridges, cd players, and all....but I will never trade my Legacy Proteges! Great with tubes!!
 
Most definitely my ADS 1530, bought new in 1981 and still alive n kickin.

(do you know how hard it was to find a suitable center channel speaker for this setup) :)

Y'know, everyone has a different set of ears and a differing love of music and listens in differing environments, so there are a bajillion different speakers and types of speakers out there. That having been said, I've heard all but a few of the mega-mega-buck German speakers and their ilk...but nothing compares to my Carver Amazing Silver MKlV's and their family. Nada, zip, zilch, zero.

Don't get me wrong...I've got some others I like and won't sell for more emotional reasons (my HPM 1100's, my acrylic HPM 100's), but despite my indifference to his amplifiers, Bob Carver's speakers are the pinnacle of listening enjoyment for moi...even compared to statics and other ribbon types (Magnepan, Martin-Logan, Acoustat, Apogee, et al.).
