What are the musical artists or bands of the 60's or 70's still in great shape in these days ?

clint-- do you mean, who from that period is still around and going strong? or, who from that period still sounds contemporary?

I mean, who from that period is still alive and kicking.

Roger Hodgson from Supertramp. I've seen him in solo performances the last two years and will be seeing him for the third time this fall.

He is still an outstanding performer. He looks great. He sounds great. And he still has fun on stage. The first time that I saw him was a total solo show. Just Roger, a guitar, a piano, and a keyboard. He moved from instrument to instrument as he played an assortment of Supertramp songs mixed in with his own solo tunes.

The second time I saw him (last summer) was the same show except...he had a very bad cold. Hodgson came on stage and admitted to the audience that he was not in his best form and was heavily medicated with decongestants. But he played a full set regardless. His voice cracked at times, disappeared completely other times, and he even forgot the words to some of the songs. But the whole time he just laughed it all off and had fun. So the audience forgave him because they were having fun too!

This September I'll be seeing him again. This time with an orchestra. I can't wait!

Roger Hodgson is still going strong and, IMHO, is better than ever. :thmbsp:

I saw the Beach Boys on Today this morning & commented to my mom they oughta change their name to the Beach Old Farts..On one hand, you gotta give them credit for still gettin' out there & trying..but OTOH, the spectacle of a bunch of pensioners trying to act & be cool like a bunch of teenagers is sorta depressing. Same for The Stones- Mick's what, 62,he looks great, & I have no doubt he could kick my ass 7 ways to Sunday, but....come on, guys, you've had a good run, but stick a fork in it, you're done. Go out while you're still on top, & give all of us something good to remember you by...-Sandy G.

Another depressing thing was to watch that special on PBS a year or 2 ago on the "Doo-Wop" groups from the '50s. A lot of them are down to only one or 2 members of the original group left. They panned the camera around a few times & caught Mamaw & Granpaw boogying- or trying hard to. The "Doo-Woppers" are now in their mid to late 60s, early 70s...Awww, man !!-Sandy G.

Judas Priest is still laying it down hard !!! :thmbsp:

The Moody Blues!..still touring half the year....and drawing huge crowds too......formed in 64..and never did a farewell tour..or a comeback tour....

That lil ole band from Texas. Better known as ZZ Top. The longest running band, still performing, with the original lineup.

Tejas.
