The alignment tool settings fall right in the middle, weight and mass are about the same. Have to see how it sounds tomorrow.:scratch2:

OK, UPDATE: I put it all back together, and the motor won't start anymore??:tears:

I have to go back and recheck everything...:scratch2:

The start touch pad would light up green when it starts, no light at all?

The arm motor does not seem to work at all but,(works very slowly) it did not work before and the platter worked fine?:scratch2:

OK, I did some fiddling and got the platter to turn on again.

I am playing an LP now, sounds good. Still needs the arm motor to work.

I bypassed the motor for now to see if it works. If the motor can be repaired this may be worth fixing 100%, $$$???:scratch2:

OK, I got it working as a Manual TT so far. It sounds very nice, quiet motor.

I like Jelly toast! The SM is at Vinylengine now, I uploaded mine to them. Maybe someone else can use it too.

OK, it seems to be coming back to life little by little. The clutch works now.

Thank You, I am happy with the outcome. I have to make some feet and clean up the Plinth a bit.

A very solid TT. Who would have known Akai made such nice TT's.:scratch2:

I wish I knew a way to let you know how to give the replacement wand a satin finish like the whacked item used to be...

What metal is the replacement - Polished aluminium/stainless or chromed steel?

Either way, it's only a cosmetic thing, not distracting of your superb workmanship.

FWIW, if it's aluminium, I often anodise this metal and a 'satin' finish could sometimes be done with aluminium.

I'll post an example of what I once did with a wand replacement for a c/f Micro arm after I ran out of headshells for it.

It Looks very nice, similar to the tonearm a got the tube from.

I still have to make miner adjustments to the arm geometry.:scratch2:

I am just happy that I get it to play a record.

I had tonearm wiring, that was heavier than what is normally used.

Doesn't that effect the tonearm at the pivot?

I have learned so much fixing these TT's and having fun too!

The plinth paint has rubbed off in spots?:scratch2:

As to the finish on the arm, I think you can achieve that with bead blasting but that, of course, would require disassembly.

Have you got the alignment dialed in yet?

Thank you, The alignment is getting there. The arm looks OK to me right now. May have to move the tube inward a bit. Sounds great though. 1.5 grams.:thmbsp:

I like the way this TT is made, solid machined metal all around.
