I'd consider that pretty much tops that any sane person would pay.

I've put better sounding entire rigs together for less.

That should be a BIG clue for anyone here still hanging onto one - I'd get 'em sold while the flock is still excited about them (and before the SX takes a big dump audio dump).

Do you have any idea what kind of amp / preamp or integrated / tuner combo you can get into for that sort of coin?

I could see a grand because it is unique and scarce but not for SQ. . . I agree you can do a lot more for a lot less if sound quality is what you are after. . .

Try a little 981 Rotel for about 250-300.00. . .

this cant be a misprint as hes writen 7500 2 times, you can even see from the suroundings in the picture that the house looks a mess, no doubt bought from a garage sale or on the cheap somewhere, and to list it at that price is just unbelivable, greedy isnt the word...

Also comparing the 600 watts rated on the back panel to the 275RMS in the owners manual. Clueless, except he knows that it will bring big bucks. And it probably will. Another lowlife cashes in.

I would love to have a sx-1980, but I will stick with my mid range budget rig..hehe
Plus, i'd end up blowing every speaker I own with that thing, all at once...^_^

Because numbskulls who's dead parents had one will make a reserve price of $4000 after seeing this thread, thus escalating the price of one even more. They need to know that the price is ridiculous.

I agree , $7500 ,way out of line. I recall the 1280s were going for up to around $1600.00(that's way f&*ked up too) on ebay last winter . Some of the MINT, and I mean really MINT, 1980s were going for less than that. I'd give around $750.00 for one , and then I'd have to talk myself in to it . I'll stick with my SX-1250 and be happy.
