Technics relaunch

The standmount speaker looks remarkably similar to the KEF LS50. Looking forward to more about and from them. Of course, a new turntable would be nice...

Technics Reborn

From Panasonic back to Technics.
At IFA 2014 Berlin was presented this NEW
Technics SE-R1 stereo power amplifier.

Looks nice. I guess they're getting on the bandwagon of Yamaha and Onkyo these days.

One thing I don't understand is why all of a sudden they want to play in the audio market when not too long ago, they killed off probably their best selling audio products, the SL-1200/12XX turntables. Doesn't make much sense.

Different markets. Technics saw, and let's not get into another debate about the merits of it, as a DJ table, not as a high end audio product. The market they are heading into now is completely different. This is high end, boutique, home audio, which Technics never made a serious attempt to get into before.

Technics hasn't come up with a new turntable design in more then 30 years. Modern volumes being what they are, I can't see them relaunching an updated sp-10, for instance. They'd likely have to buy a complete table from another manufacturer and rebrand it as a Technics. Don't know that it would be a worthwhile effort at this point.

I'm guessing Matsushita has the resources to design and engineer any product they desire. If the Technics brand is successful I would not be surprised to see a limited run of turntables. Regardless it should be fun to see what they come up with. That speaker certainly looks interesting.

I agree, the turntables were great and have a place. But I never looked at Technics for anything else.
Any information on whose drivers they are using for the towers being shown here?

BTW, it is a great thing to see that so many mass market companies are getting seriously back into audio.

I hope these are not the real products,
who needs that much power in a home amplifier these days?
that tiny screen on the network player seems a joke, and its clear that the floorstanders sound like crap, :thumbsdn:

Huh?? Is there info out on these speakers already? Just wondering whose drivers they are using.
Based on the other prices I would expect these towers to be over priced.....

Just one more thing. Have you noticed that these are STEREO products and not a whatever new surround format.

It's funny, most times when folks post this type of dribble I simply shake my head and move on, however............ your input here is baseless, thoughtless and downright stupid!! Please, think before you post.:thmbsp:
