Technics SL 5300

Is the SL 5300 a pretty decent table? Any known issues? The one I am looking at has a Shure m91ed cart.

Yes, it is quite a decent table. Quartz locked direct drive. And that's a very nice cartridge....the EVG or Jico elliptical stylus ($20 or thereabouts) is excellent in it.

The 5300 is from 1979 (I think), with full auto capability and repeat function.

It's nice table from the sl-5xxx family, one of the first turntables to feature a stylus light.

Known issue is solder joint fatigue on the FG circuit (causes runaway speed).

Thanks for the info guys. Is it much better than the Technics sl-Q200?
