Chicago's own intelligentsia, I believe the name of the bean/roast I use is Cruz Del Sol or something like that, prepared in a French Press and machine ground. Except that my coffee mill ground itself, so I'm stuck with having it ground at the coffee shop. It's very good.

For pre-ground, I like illy and some of the Trader Joe varieties.
 
Circle K is my favorite. They used to sell it in a little gold colored foil bag, but I think they stopped because their stores around here don't have it. :tears:
 
+1 on the Caribou coffees. Much better than the "charbucks" burnt roast flavors. This is the brand I normally get. Just finishing off a pound of their Reindeer Seasonal blend and a pound of Kenya AA.

The 8 O'clock 100% Columbian is suprisingly good for the $$, and when I'm out of the Caribou I may just cup the 8 O'clock for a while.

Not surprisingly the most expensive was not picked as the best! And starbucks did not rate very high. :no: We use walmart brand 100% arabica bean coffee at our house. I like it better than the name brands. :yes:

That is our favorite coffee too. I think the 13 ounce can is $2.26 or there about. That arabica Walmart stuff is good.:yes:
 
On the opposite end, the trend that is driving me NUTS is those little plastic cups that look like creamer cups that you put in machines that make coffee out of it. If you've seen them you'll know what I'm talking about. They're popping up everywhere, at my office, at the hotel I stayed at last weekend, at the studio I went to today. Everywhere! It tastes like chemicals.
 
Eight Oclock Columbian is all I have drunk for 25 years. I learned from my mom who has used to forever. Its $3.18 a bag here at walmart right now I just bought four bags this week. I have been telling people about it for years. Starbucks tastes burned and gross to me. The only thing I like better than 8 oclock is real kona. I do not like the Red Bag 8 Oclock though.

We have one at work that makes espresso. It's this model.

I think it tastes quite good, actually. And, there is a wide variety of coffees.
 
I don't drink much coffee but I like the Wal-Mart 100% columbian. I worked across the street from the downtown KCMO Folgers plant for several years, the smell was enough sometimes it was very intoxicating or when they were making dark roast it was horrible. I worked at Macy's distribution center and loved it when we would get 50lb sacks of whole beans in, open that door on the truck and it was heavenly.
 
I love the Keurig K-Cup system of one cup brewing. Very consistent high quality coffee with the right blends. I have a Keurig machine with the attachment for making my own blends. The best blend so far is the Peets Major Dickasons Blend (pre-ground). This gives a full rich and bodied coffee which is repeatable every time I brew.

For brewed coffee I like McDonalds coffee. I think they use Newmans Own. Can't drink Dunkin Donuts coffee anymore unless that's all that is available.

Like most people, I don't want to overpay for anything, but I will pay a little more for quality. I really enjoy Cashua Coffee and have had great service through their mail order program. The coffee is outstanding.

For storebought, I like Community Coffee.

Thought I'd heard a rumour Mickey-D's got in bed with a name in coffee.

However, they must not have changed at the last one I visited because it was some nasty stuff.

The cup had a bunch of schpeel on it touting the premium quality, but that premium quality wasn't in the cup I got. :dunno:
 
I work in maintenance at Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group, here in the swamp.

We make Chase & Sanborn, Hills Bros., MJB, Chock Full O' Nuts, Kirkland (Costco.), Master Chef (Walmart) and other various and sundry store brands. My favorite is the Kirkland 100% Columbian, brewed in my Krups espresso maker. It's a powerfull cup of coffee, not for the squeamish. Other folks at the plant who prefer a more mild cup like the MJB Hawaiian Blend which is 10% Kauai.

The fragrance inside the plant can be overwhelming. But lately we have been getting into the flavored coffees. Which is nice 'cuz one day the place will smell of French Vanilla, the next day Hazelnuts, etc.

I get my coffee beans from a local roaster. A good Columbian, a terrace-grown Costa Rican, and a very nice organic Guatamalan Huehuetanango.

Great breakfast blend. In the evening, a darker roast, asian bean makes a very nice cup.

I get a couple of pounds of that nearly every year when a friends church group heads south on missionary work...to me the mission is to bring back my damn coffee...lol!

Here at home I drink Allann Bros Coffee from The Beanery.
