The Name That Album thread

I got lazy, I swiped this on-line image of a Japanese Mini-LP. I do have the original LP and it's the same. Title and artist was centered on the forehead and also on the "obi" to the left. And it shouldn't be that hard.

Here are some clues. At 17 this guitarist played piano with one of the premier artists of the time and on his album. Despite not having no practical experience on it. He has played with some of the biggest acts of the last 40 years.

Recently he got a double hip replacement. From playing to much hoops.

Very tempting to get out my hiragana/katakana alphabet on this one and work out the name on the obi.

Since I am certain I have the Grin down. Here is a cover, should be easy. I did put a ring of spiced pineapple over the artist's face in order to make it a little harder. I left one letter uncovered as a teaser.

good luck!

I can make out a little of the blanked text either side of the "O". To me it looks like THEKO?"O"D? HARDT. Anyone else got a better resolution?

Considering the amount of selections posted that I DIDN'T know, it is going to be tough to pick one that a) you guys won't know off the bat, and b) isn't so obscure that you'll never get it. Give me a minute to find a balance...

I met the man in Nashville when he hosted a charity event my organization put together. He called me "curtain man" because I kept dropping the curtain on some of the amateur acts.

Ken

now more than ever, you sir are my hero. i would have loved to have met Porter.

Okay, we'll see how this goes. My guess is that someone will get it right away, but hints can be forthcoming if needed. Artist and title are on the top, and the small circle underneath is somewhat symbolic, hence the partial block. I also made sure that it wasn't one that I have posted in the music threads.

Well, you knew that someone would have known this one flat out. It's

Gong
Radio Gnome Invisible Volume 2: Angel's Egg
1973 (U.K. Virgin)

(ps: and that cover's a bit more stained than my copy)

So of course I am in the office now, preparing for a stoopid administrative type meeting at 1:00pm (Pacific), so running out to the interwebs, much less running home, to pick out an album for the game is nigh impossible for me at the moment; could one of you fine gents (do any ladies play the album cover game or even use the Music Forums??) step in for me at this point & post a challenge for all to solve? I'll post a cover later in the afternoon, I promise. :D
