Personally....
I'd spend just a little extra dough and use these
Not a whole lot more money, and a much larger step up in quality, life expectancy, and sonic capabilities.....

Also, Upon further listening and comparing with my set of 7's the bass seems to be what I would describe as "sloppy". would adding damping inside "tighten" it up?

however, you can't do anything to change the size of the box or the properties of the woofer....
As as far as the caps go, you're going to pay a bunch more then the cost of the cheap 'lytics for the S&H, so for a few extra bucks, you get a much better product...

Guess you didn't see the oscilloscope traces of capacitor hysteresis in the bypass thread.
There doesn't seem to be much point in using crap capacitors to enhance performance.

Thats my plan. Until I can get my hands on some more mini 7's. Then may give them to a friend who doesn't have a sound system.
I need to run an A/B with my MM-7's. With the little mods, they may actually sound better, especially in the low end....:scratch2:

Stock they don't hold a candle to the 7's (I was A/Bing them earlier) Believe it or not the bass on the 7's actually sounds better. I think it is because the 7's have a tighter sound. I am going to order some of the crossover caps and put those in and put some damping in, then I will A/B them again.

Let us know how it goes. I may mod my set as well. Walmart here sells the cotton batting filler used for pillows, fabrics, etc. I will use that. Its the closest thing to fibreglass type fill I've seen.
Two questions: What size of woofer does this speaker use? 5 inch or 6.5 inch? Secondly does the woofer use any low pass filter or is it being used full range? I have an old Rad Shack 6.5" poly propylene woofer I could replace the stock one with if the other is the same size.

Bought a pair of those today, replaced the stock 1 uF cap with a 2.2 uF cap and filled it about a third with fiberfill from the bottom up. Marked improvement in sound, especially in the mids and highs. I'll A-B them with my Minimus 7's tomorrow. I am impressed with the sound stage of these cheap little buggers, I can almost reach out and touch the vocalists. Certainly worth the 15 bucks. May mate them with my $15.00 Accurian amplifier for a cheapo "good" system. Now all I have to do is find a use for them.

Yeah, the sound stage was the one thing that jumped out at me. I was amazed they imaged so well.
I wish I could have gotten some of those Accurian amps. Oh well.

They are rated to take 100 watts peak and most modern amps are rated at peak power, not continuous as per RMS. So it would seem that they are safe with modern amps. Besides they are inefficient speakers so it takes a relatively high power amp to drive them to even normal listening levels.
