The Pioneer "SPEC" Gear Thread!

This thread is dedicated to all Pioneer owners of "SPEC" gear, in other words, it "has" to say "SPEC" on the front of the component.

Okay, I'll start us off, I have in my posession:

SPEC 1 (6 of them)
SPEC 2 (4 of them)
SPEC 4 (2 of them)

That's it!

What have "YOU" got?

Pictures of your set-up would be cool to see too.

Here's a picture of one of my SPEC driven systems:
akfest2009048.jpg

In the picture starting at the top:

Sony 32" Flat Panel TV
Music Hall 25.2 Tube DAC
Pioneer Elite DV 45A dedicated DVD player
Pioneer Elite PD-65 CD Player (I'm using it as a transport for the Music Hall DAC)
Pioneer SPEC 1
Pioneer SPEC 2

The speakers are Infinity RS 2.5s and most of the cables being used are Zebras

This system sounds absolutely awesome!

I have (and love) several SPEC components. I don't want to be a wet blanket but won't this thread be somewhat limited? How many individual SPEC components (that actually said SPEC on the front) were there anyway? Paging Dr. Strangelove, Dr. Strangelove, you are required in the SPEC thread.

My system is shown here:

I believe, and don't quote me on this, there was a SPEC 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5. There may be more and if there is, please post the information here.

The main purpose for the thread though, is to have the proud owners of this vintage, and IMHO, underated SPEC gear, chime in and show it off.

By showing off their SPEC gear, I imagine we will be seeing a very diverse group of components and systems, not so different than mine.

... and it could be cool to see how people have mounted/displayed their SPEC gear and any mods they may have made to them (different color meter bulbs or glass)

Yes indeed, I'm hoping this turns out to be the ultimate SPEC thread!

Lots of pictures please!

By the way, I never get tired of seeing what "you" did with your SPEC gear and that rack you disigned for them! :thmbsp:

Did that "purple van" have white horns on it? :D

Oh, and by-the-way, thanks for Jarred Allen, I bought one of his jersey's when my son and I went to Vikings camp over in Mankato last week.

Just one more thing, what is the turntable you have with all the Pioneer floroscan equipment?

Here are my SPECS having a sleepover party

Nice, and how ironic! I'm doing some home remodeling now that I'm not working and my two oldest kids are away at college. Guess where I've got some of my SPEC gear sitting while I'm doing the romodeling? If you guessed on one of their old beds, you'd be absolutely correct! :D

Oh, and speaking of bunkbeds, one of my favorite lines is from the movie "BIG" with Tom Hanks is, "yeah, you can sleep over, but I get to be on top!"

:D

horrible pic and this is just sitting here while I am remodeling the garage into a listening area disguised as a family room to appease the wife. Trust me, not the stand it will be in nor will the PL-610 be sitting on top of it all (although, surprisingly, it works pretty well up there)
I wanted just about the best Pioneer gear I could have walked into my PX in 1978 and purchased, so I consider it all Spec gear, even the speakers, tho I am afraid they will no longer see much use. I guess I should have straightened out the badges on the grill covers . I do have another SG-9500 not shown. EQ is like that because I am watching my granddaughter and the Mickey Mouse March just sounds much better this way.
Had better hope retro does not list all his gear, could take pages....

Looks good to me Don, but why in the world won't it be getting much use?
