The Pioneer "SPEC" Gear Thread!

If it were me, I'd go ahead and ship it to the master, EchoWars from Kansas City.

Retro

I would love to do just that. After reading the shipping horror stories on AK, I am afraid to do that.

Also it may just be something simple since it did work briefly (not a fuse though) Of corse if I could get it to someone like Echowars, I would have him do a complete overhaul.

Hmmm I think I will PM Echowars, but I'll bet he is overwhelmed by people on AK.

I phoned Merrylander a few months ago and he said he was not crazy about working on Pioneer, but said we could work something out when he had bench space. I have not heard from him since. Merrylander is close to me, and if it were something simple, that would be the best (economy ) solution. If you see this Merrylander I am still interested.

Thanks for the help retro

This thread is dedicated to all Pioneer owners of "SPEC" gear, in other words, it "has" to say "SPEC" on the front of the component.

Okay, I'll start us off, I have in my posession:

SPEC 1 (6 of them)
SPEC 2 (4 of them)
SPEC 4 (2 of them)

That's it!

What have "YOU" got?

Pictures of your set-up would be cool to see too.

Here's a picture of one of my SPEC driven systems:
akfest2009048.jpg

In the picture starting at the top:

Sony 32" Flat Panel TV
Music Hall 25.2 Tube DAC
Pioneer Elite DV 45A dedicated DVD player
Pioneer Elite PD-65 CD Player (I'm using it as a transport for the Music Hall DAC)
Pioneer SPEC 1
Pioneer SPEC 2

The speakers are Infinity RS 2.5s and most of the cables being used are Zebras

This system sounds absolutely awesome!

Damn. You did have to show a pic of the RS 2.5s again. I was just beginning to sleep again at night. Oh, sorry I forgot it is a "SPEC" thread. :D

You're the one packing it. To be honest, I don't blame the shipping companies for destroying equipment, I blame the people that don't pack it good enough to survive a 10 story drop.

Hmmm I think I will PM Echowars, but I'll bet he is overwhelmed by people on AK.

You're right, he does have a waiting queue, and the quicker you get your name on it, the quicker it will get done.

Thanks for the help retro

No problem.

It's all good. I am not putting the blame on the shipping companies either, I just do not trust a 60 lb unit in the mail. ...and the cost :sigh:

I do not mind the cost to get it fixed right, I just want to exhaust the local routes first. Believe me if there were a way to get it to Echowars, that is what I would do.

Again Thank you :thmbsp:

Once again, no problem. I didn't mean to come off too harsh in my responce, but I have shipped a lot of stuff to EchoWars (several SPEC 2s) and if packed correctly, NOBODY can hurt them. :thmbsp:

I am really enjoying the sound actually. I was thinking of doing a little AK bbq and vinyl listening party here in September.

Looks like Bob Falk is having one up north in September:

http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=245422

doucanoe had one in June:

http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=228030

I had one last fall:

http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=174365&highlight=midwest+fest

Jaymanaa had one in the spring:

http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=139448&page=14&highlight=midwest+fest

And Jaymanaa is having another one in October that a bunch of us are going down to:

Just do a "midwest fest" search in the "Events & Happenings" forum and you can see all the previous ones that have been held.

Be careful though, you may end up with up to 50 people at your place!

:D

50 people sounds like a good time to me! My house isn't huge but as long as it is nice out, we can accommodate. I have several friends in the MN orchestra and had invited a few of them over a couple years ago and before I knew it we had about 75 people here from the orchestra.

Pioneer Spec 1
Pioneer Spec 2
Trying to get the tx-9500 2, can anybody help me find a website other than ebay and craigslist?

Kinda surprised there's only one PL-630 pictured in this thread. No love for the SPEC TT?:scratch2:

Here's Mine

It is amazing to see all the different setups, so much to take in

I believe, and don't quote me on this, there was a SPEC 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5.

Retro

I know it sez don't quote me... but SPEC 5 ?? Would that be like the M-73 power amp? It fits real good with the C-73 preamp (SPEC-3) and its speaker control and headphone/out. Just wondering... I cain't find a SPEC-3 and never even heard of the SPEC-5 till now.

What you know 'bout that?
