Should have posted in Fisher Forum, I clicked on Fisher post, but was here last.. I got a KX-100 with four 7868s (25 watts per channel). Decided to keep this vs sell.
You can do a lot of the same tweaks to that that dcgillespie did to my X-101-C. It's another cathode biased amp, but with 7868s instead of 7591s. The iron's pretty closely matched.
All I seem to do anymore is 'think' Fisher.
1st got a X100-B with 7868s and refurbed it with IBAM, recap, and all that, then had to have another one.
So got a X100-3(same as X100-A with 7189s/6BQ5s). Now waiting for replacement OPT for 1 ch. Then its another refurb.
I really like Fishers and cant get enuf but they are costly so 2 will have to do for now.

I should investigate splitting up the power tube cathode bias into two separate circuits. I am installing a Fisher 400 power transformer and could use the transformer bias supply winding with conversion to DC output to feed the preamp tube filaments.
Edit- After reading Dave's post on the X-101C, the KX-100 is a natural for conversion to fixed bias due to the audio transformer design. The Fisher 400 transformer being installed is a natural due to having the 24 volt fixed bias supply winding.
My enthusiasm was a little premature. It was unfortunate the KX-100 was discovered with a bad audio transformer. The audio transformers were guaranteed before purchase so I was refunded. I elected to pay a lower price due to the valuable parts will service future Fisher products and the original owner did not want it back.
An AK member quickly snatched up the like new condition faceplate and asked if I would toss in those rare maroon slide switch.
I have like new documentation for the Fisher KX-100. Larry, you are the go to Fisher document king and a large asset to the Fisher community. Do you want these documents? The assembly manual includes a lot of illustrations. Pleased to mail the papers your way if interested.
it would be nice if they were available here on AK too. thats stuff you just dont get ahold of regularly, or pay a hi price for.
but I can understand why you mite want to keep them close to your heart. they're treasures. IMO
I agree with you. AK will get a copy for the DATA BASE, although I think the FISHER CONSOLE site is better suited for FISHER ONLY Manuals. And easier to negotiate.
Jim; Here's that TX-300 schematic I promised. Definately Germanium. I don't think Fisher made any integrateds or straight amps after that until the SANYO era. I'll have to check with RED on that tho.
The TX-300 is essentially the amplifier section of the 600-T receiver but with a few more features. There is a bit more circuitry at the right hand end of the control preamp boards and there are 2 levels of input switching. The main selector (push buttons) chooses between the high level inputs and LOW LEVEL. A second selector (rotary) selects between various low level inputs.
