How do you tone the bass down on this model ?

Start by cutting the ends, removing some fresh insulation and twisting the wires carefully. You might be able to get them in. But easier if you take the above suggestion and reduce the diameter of the end before inserting.

Like was said above, get some 18awg and you will be fine. So many think that a thicker gauge wire will sound better they get overly heavy duty stuff that makes it difficult to work with. My main system right now has a 125 wpc receiver with short runs and I use 16awg. I bought some 14g and had the same problem as the OP. When using older equipment it is a pain in the ass sometimes.

So you’re saying thinner cable won’t lose any audio quality ? Ended if it’s lesser quality?
Can old cable companies wire be used for speakers or electronics??

Speaker pin connectors can be had from Parts Express for a little as a couple bucks per pair.

Cable but he took those cables back because the three big tree branch fell LOL I should’ve took him while they were there

I think the Optimus passive sub is too low ohms or just incompatible with this model of subwoofer , and this sony receiver cannot power it .
