How about a yank in 1964.

I've been tempted a couple of times to put up a Hendrix clip, it was sort of strange reverse British invasion. He was spotted by a British manager, went to London, got a British backing band and had a couple of top 10 UK hits before making it big in the States.

Funny, I was thinking exactly the same thing this morning. BTW, that British manager was Chas Chandler, himself formerly of The Animals, another BI group.

Mona - an LP I never found despite lookin' for a clean, original UK (Transatlantic label) copy for years. I do have Mick Farren @ an LP in the form of an earlier project:

Twink - Think Pink (One of the original Fairies along with Steve Took....see where I was going)

I find it fascinating to follow the output of a group of artist who often worked together.....Twink (John Adler) played drums on an earlier mentioned pick by Tomorrow. Twink was involved in many notable bands and projects, The Pretty Things, The Pink Fairies, Tomorrow, The Inn Crowd...he even was in a short lived group with Syd Barrett called STARS. John Adler is still alive and working on many musical projects while living in Marrakesh, Morocco.

I forgot to mention that Steve Took played drums on Syd's solo albums...They hung out in the day and often went to the clubs in London together and dare I say did some of the same drugs....

Let us not forget one group that was really successful on both sides of the "pond"...they tended to be forerunners in the use of three part harmony that other groups went on to use as well.

Their music was for the most part on the treble side as was most ot the Brit material but I found a freshness at the time that they brought out their first hit "Bus Stop" in '66.

Yep, "The Hollies". Love that riff in "A Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress"! The volume goes up at that point on my set.
