I'd say that The Wake, Nomzamo and Subteranea are the best representations. Haven't heard the later releases, Dark Matter and The Seventh House, but they seem to get favorable reviews.

Dan-ed, Thanks for the recommendations. I will follow up on those listed. Are you also familiar with an IQ release titled Are You Sitting Comfortably? released in 1988, I think)?

I'm not familiar with IQ's Are You Sitting Comfortably? Have to admit that I've let less than flattering reviews keep me from giving it a good listen.

I wasn't a huge fan of Subterranea as I thought it were over-long; it could have and should been edited down to a single CD, IMHO of course.

I have Seventh House and Dark Matter and of the two Seventh House is my fave...I'd say its my fave prog CD of that year.

Marillion -- which album should I start with?

I can't believe all the albums this band has released and I don't have one, even though I've known about them since the mid-eighties! :scratch2:

Can someone make a few recommendations on which album(s) I should purchase to get the best perspective on their sound?
