Tom Brady

I remember watching a great Orange Bowl game one year: Michigan vs Alabama. To this day I remember thinking that Michigan QB(Brady) seemed kind of special. He played a smart game even at the collegiate level. He's special, his years are numbered, and has the chance to bury many, many, NFL records. They are both young and very wealthy, and will easily be retired well before 50, IF they choose. If you think about it, if everyone put family first, you could remove almost every famous person in the history books.

His prowess as a quarterback has long been eclipsed by his actions - bullshit like the temper tantrums that were on display yesterday.

It's my life
It's now or never
But I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)

My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, "I did it my way"
I just want to live while I'm alive
It's my life

Yeah, this is for the ones who stood their ground
For Tommy and Giselle, who never backed down
Tomorrow's getting harder, make no mistake
Luck ain't even lucky, got to make your own breaks

Went to pick up my motorcycle at the shop. Wife drove me there. Didn't want to put on my helmet. Wife insisted so I did. On the way home wrecked the motorcycle took a head first dive at 60. The helmet saved my life. We had just had a baby 6 months before this happened. She asked me not to ride motorcycles anymore. At that time in my life it was the right thing to do. A wife is an equal partner. Tom Brady's not treating her like an equal partner.

Hi sanford12,

With all due respect to your point, I'll say that "At that time in my life it was the right thing to do" means that after such a terrifying accident you yourself were ready to give up riding motorcycles, and I truly applaud your decision, you did right by what you felt in your heart.....

BUT !!!!

Tom isn't yet ready to give up on being what he was before he married Ms. Bündchen. It's who he is, , , , I don't personally know the guy but it appears he lives for football in the way most of us here live for audio, why should he give up such a major part of his identity on the command of his partner when he's not ready to, thereby instantly relinquishing his "equal partner" status ?

In my humble opinion he should play till his heart, or eventually declining performance due to aging, finally ends it for him....... ;)

Yes, all respect to Sanford. To the subject though, equal partner status, by the same logic, she is relinquishing her equal partner status by demanding he quit and, not the least, making and/or allowing a public display of what ought to be private. Reminds me of a song, 'All the wives of my ex friends are friends of my ex Wife'.

From what I understand, he promised to retire, and did so for a short time, and then went back on that promise. Broken promises can put a wedge between any relationship.
Point taken. I imagine the promise was the result of a wedge she inserted into the relationship, coercion. Shades of 'Paradise by the Dashboard Lights'.

Hi Rick, but by the same measure doesn't being bullied into such a major decision also drive wedges into relationships? For all we know she pestered him SO badly that he finally caved and said "Sure, I'll retire" just to get her to stop nagging, found out being retired was the most miserable couple of days of his life, and woke up on the third day exclaiming "Screw it, I'm not done yet playing football !!!!" and then promptly un retired.

A loving, understanding spouse should recognize the unhappiness their demand is causing their partner, and should be willing to accept that he's simply not ready to end such a major part of his life yet.

1. It's his life, and she had to know that right away. His dedication and enthusiasm for the game should have been obvious.
2. He promised to retire, and he did. I doubt he promised it would be permanent.
3. Gisele is worth way more than the goat, who's worth plenty, so money isn't an issue.

Now to the important stuff. What's this about a boil? ;-}

Money all around, he had fame, that might be an issue. Why would person of means be a model, attention perhaps. She's getting plenty of it now, working the divide.

None of us know the whole story.

I would guess that, had there been no children, Gisele would have been fine with him playing for as long as he wished.

If we did know the whole story we wouldn't know, speculation being what it is. As one who does not follow sports this is more interesting than sports, sports of a different sort. I would guess Tom loves and has the best interests of his children, too, assuming that is the primary concern of what drives Gisele, I wonder if the children are encouraged to one side or the other. The personal aspect of it should be private but the door has been opened and the ball is in play with 'fans' on either side. Sports.

It was a promise broken twice. If you can't trust someone to keep a promises especially in a marriage it's a pretty big deal. She put up with it the first time and supported him. Looks like she's had enough.

Report came out that Tom spent time in August with an ex-girlfriend who had a child by him. So that gives some context to the troubles he's having with the wife and that he saw the end of his marriage coming and said hell with it might as well play. Can't help but think that there will be future regrets.
