Any planned purchases of specific new records among you vinylphiles? Anyone planning to buy a 'table? a cartridge, or arm? Plans to browse the used bins? What are you doing in honor of the day?

Last year was the first RSD I was able to attend, and I had a good time. But I don't know if I will be in line before the doors open this year. There are several exclusives that would be nice to own but I'm trying to pace myself after a record fair last weekend. I'm looking at the new Big Star and Bob Dylan 7 inch. But also eyeing the Daniel Johnston, Destroyer, and Built to Spill.

Interested in the Built to Spill too, but hopefully the little shop I go to will have it, they only carry 1 or 2 copies usually

I bought Keep It Like A Secret last weekend...

... which sounds great! I hope the same guys are pressing the live album, too.

Have got work most of the day. And my spending budget is kind of blown this week. Oh well :/ Next year.

Hoping for a copy of the new Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me album as I long ago traded the copy I bought when I was a kid to a friend for a Swervedriver album (which I thankfully still own). I already have the BTS stuff so no worries there but hopefully everyone that wants copies can manage to get ahold of them. Otherwise, I was quite underwhelmed by the list of stuff coming out.

Not a damned thing. Why should we honor self promotion? However I did purchase a new TT a couple weeks ago and lately have been going a bit nuts buying direct to discs off the bay (13 to date).

This will be my first RSD. I was going to skip it as I really don't like the format but then I saw a few I really think will be worth the effort.

Willie Nelson Crazy: The Demo Sessions
Buddy Guy Hold That Plane
Big Mama Thorton Jail
Chet Atkins Black Jack ep
Charlie Poole Complete Paramount/Brunswick Records

I'll be in Houston tomorrow as per the other RSD thread.

One thing that RSD is becoming is an opportunitist dream, like scalping concert tickets. People that don't care about the music buying up the rare releases and selling them on ebay for profit.

I did not have a problem finding stuff on the list:

Big Star: Nothing Can Hurt Me
Brian Jonestown Massacre: Fist Full Of Bees/Food For Clouds
Country Joe and The Fish: I Feel Like I'm Fixin To Die
Greatful Dead: Rare Cuts & Oddities 1966
Pink Floyd: See Emily Play b/w Scarecrow
Roky Erickson: Mine Mine Mind b/w Bloody Hammer
Rolling Stones: 5 x 5
The Cal Tjader Trio: The Cal Tjader Trio (Fantasy 3-9)
Van Dyke Parks: Song Cycle
The Three O'Clock: Live at The Old Waldorf 2/9/82
Various Artists: The Rough Guide To Psychedelic Brazil
Various Artists: The Rough Guide To Latin Psychedelia
Various Artists: The Rough Guide To African Disco

There's that Beak> record, the Grizzly Bear/Brian Eno one, the Jandek box set.
There's lots of stuff that I wouldn't mind getting.
Plus that first PIL single would be pretty cool to own.

I'm looking to get the Small Faces records.

If my store opens at 10:30, and I get there around 2, I'm guessing most of the stuff will be gone.

Not necessary. The highly sought after albums will go fast but I think you got a good chance with the Small Faces record. I went early last year and then went to several other record stores afterwards, and there was still a lot of stuff left at the end of the day.
