TPA 3116 vs the tripaths

With the preamp still powered my Audiobah green board emits the very faintest of faint sounds on turn off. It's not loud enough to be called a pop.

Hmm... warm but not hot I suppose? What about inductors, are they getting hot or just warm too?

Interesting though that 3110 board and chip doesn't even need heatsink and is cool on touch, just like inductors no matter how long is on and playing!

What about pop or clicks during power On/Off?
 
All this talk about turn on/off pop got me thinking. Yeah, it can be annoying when I turn on my amp but I deal with. After that it doesn't matter. Because after my amp turns on, that's when I actually listen to music :)

Yes, the heatsink gets warm, but not hot. The inductors are slightly warm too, but noticeably cooler than the heatsink. I've had several other TPA3116 boards, and none of them got warm at all,I wonder what is different about the Sure design.

Maybe you can check chippin 13/14/15 thats input side most right pins except the 16th :)

AM2=0, AM1=0, AM0=0 376 400 424

Don't even bother David, just enjoy in music :thmbsp:

Design of the board looks nice and well made. If it get's a little warmer it's just normal for this configuration, and it suits better to 4 ohm spk.

I evicted a blue/black board from this box so I could listen to it right away. I'll get around to properly installing it...sometime.

Yes, that is fair to say. Compared to the blue/black, I hear more delicate highs, a major concern of mine with the other TPA3116 boards I've tired. (red 2.0/ red 2.1 in a metal case, blue/black). I have not tried the green Audiobah board, but after listening to the Sure board most of the weekend, I feel no need to do so. At some point I may try one of those astron power supplies, but funds are very tight right now, so that will have to wait.
 
At the risk of turning this into the Davidflas TPA3116 thread, I would like to say a bit more about the Sure. After listening to it in my 2 channel rig and being very impressed, I just hooked it up to my computer rig. Very impressive! In this setting it really shines, a much larger, more convincing soundstage than the blue/black board it replaced. With this amp I feel that I am finally experiencing the magical sound that Poultrygeist has been talking about all thread long.

My 6N3 finally made it to the US! :banana:

Gonna back burner trying the 3110 board with anything else since I should see that here in a few days.
