Traveling to New England. Looking for advise.

You too Vg. Bet your gettin' excited to get there as well. (now I am thinking of all that really great food your going to be eating). You will probably be hittin' the colors when your there. I expect a full report when you get back on the 10th. I will also be PMing a few of the folks here on this thread for updates as the time gets closer.

I'm excited to go even though I was there about a month ago for a week! I'll take some more (cell phone) photos. Visiting a guy that used to live across the street from me as a kid. Now he's got 2 homes, one on 11 acres in NH and another with 21 acres in Vermont. He's only returned once in about 40 years to New York...and could not wait to get out!

Hey Guys, Just checking in to find out how the colors are progressing up in your neck of the woods.
From what I have heard it's not quite peak colors yet in the middle of Maine. Is this accurate????

Thanks

Drive up Mount Washington.

Just to say you did it.

My wife and I did it this past summer and it scared the crap out of her. :)

I think we are slightly past peak here in Southern Vermont. Still plenty of color. The wind and the rain over the past couple of days has started to strip some of the trees.

We are approaching peak in MA. Maybe another week or two. Pretty cool to watch the transition from CT up to NH.

Enjoy your stay! Boston's changing in many ways. It's become quite an amazing city in the last 10 years.

All good info guys. Thanks.
We will be leaving on Sunday(from Portland Or.) and heading out Monday in the RV leaving from Worcester Ma.
By all accounts we should be good heading up into the heart of Maine to the coast via the Whites mnts. Looking at the 10 day weather it looks like we will be in for rain but in the mid 60's.
Can't wait. Hopefully not to much rain.

it's looking good here today on the western side of NH :-)

Disclaimer: these photos were actually taken yesterday; I haven't yet uploaded some more I took earlier today.

I think much of the state will be at peak ca. the weekend/early next week...

Hopefully we will make it up to at least Keene the first night due to getting a late start. Reservations with the RV say between 1-4pm pickup so assuming the worst we would leave at 4pm.
I hear that Keene is a nice little town and should be around peak or just slightly past.

I was hoping to hear from you again mhardy6647. Those pics look good. Thanks for sharing and for all the updated info gentlemen.
You certainly live in a beautiful spot.

Keene is a dandy little town indeed; might be a little tricky to jockey a large RV around right down town -- but it's worth the trip to find out ;-)
Numerous good places to eat (and drink) in Keene.

Are you planning to visit/hike up Mt. Monadnock? If you're in the neighborhood... you really ought to. It's the second-most "climbed" mountain in the world (after Fuji). It's a walk-up... although some routes are more work than others.

Mt. Wachusett and Mt. Watatic in MA are also nice, actually... and (more or less) along the route from Woosta to Keene (if you come up I-190 from Woosta to Route 2, you'll pass very close to Wachusett).

Thanks for the info. We will be renting a 19' RV. The smallest in the CruiseAmerica fleet so it shouldn't be a whole lot longer than my Chevy pick-um-up truck.
Don't know just how much hiking we will be doing. I kinda want to catch the peak leaves at first starting in MA. and heading through VT, NH and Maine. Then see where we end up. Maybe come back around via a northerly route if we take more of a coastal route to start. We will just have to see where the best color is.
