Traveling to New England. Looking for advise.

shoulda stopped by... ;-)

Yeah, the leaves may take a tumble based on the forecast tomorrow (and we've got friends comin' up tomorrow from MA) -- ahh, well, autumn is ephemeral.

Hope Bucky B. is havin' a ball up here!!

A virtual guarantee, I think.

Well I'm back and it was an awesome trip. I can say that the New England area is a beautiful place. One of the biggest things I noticed was that everything closes up after Columbus day. Restaurants, hotels, state parks, just about everything. Which can be a good or bad thing.
The good was that there were no crowds to have to deal with. It was nice driving an RV around and not worrying about holding folks up behind me.
The bad was that I missed the peak colors by probably 10 days and didn't get to eat at some of the places we wanted to try out.
We picked up the RV on Monday and returned it on Friday. All in all we drove 1000 miles so each day was a get up and go kinda day. We got to stop at a few places but not nearly as many as we would have liked. We got a great overview of Mass., New Hampshire and Maine and when we go back we will spend 2 weeks for sure. Maybe the week before Columbus day as well as the week after. It would have been good to see Vermont and spend more time in Maine. Next time....
I am in the process of gettin' all my pics put up on Photobucket and will post the link when that happens.
I can't thank all you guys enough for making our trip the success that it was. I was in touch with Valveglow during the trip and want to send him a special thank you. Your the best Rick!
Here are a few pics of where we were.

Excellent!

Be glad you're not here this week! Grey, cool, wet and dismal -- and (up here) most of the leaves are now down. Pretty typical for the second half of October in New England, actually.

EDIT: mmmm -- looking at the lobstah roll's making me hungry!

Welcome back Bucky and wifey! The "pic-chahs" look wonderful, as does the "lobstah".

I loved my Autumn New England stay, but despite the insane colors, I actually preferred my Summer stay as the flowers, both wild and cultivated, were even more incredible, if possible!

P.S. Thank YOU for the thank you! It was a real pleasure to speak to both you and your wife, who seems like a real sweetheart!

She is a sweetheart Rick. I am a lucky guy. And a big Thank you to you mhardy6647.
Maybe next trip we can get together over a cold one and a roll. (be nice to meet you too Vg.) When we head back there I will let you know so we can work out the dates.
You guys are Top Notch in Bucky's book. :thmbsp:

I hope to cross paths with you next time you're out this-a-way; it'd be wicked pissah!

Given my 'retired' status, my schedule oughta be pretty porous... ;-)

So -- this'll make you feel glad to be back home! Here's a more-or-less real-time view courtesy of the Marky's Backyard Cam :-P

Yikes. That does look kinda bleak.
Right now it's raining like dogs and cats out side with the occas. roll of thunder.
Ah the PNW.

Actually, I was sorry we couldn't meet up...we missed by just a few days. Perhaps next spring or so. I cannot WAIT to go back!
