Turntable turns too fast?

I just picked up a Micro Seiki MB-18 turntable. When I got it home, I found that it turns too fast. Would a loose belt be the cause? What other issues could result in it turning too fast?

Hi

as I see it has pitch control?
Not adjustable in it's range? Open it up, find the pcboard, look for the minipots on the pcboard (clean them..) and adjust them as well that you have the adjust nobs in mid position close to exact speed...

There is also the possibility of debris buildup on the motor spindle causing its diameter to increase.

If it has electronic pitch control, either it should be adjusted or repaired.

Make sure, if the motor runs from the power line, that it's not for 50 Hz instead of 60.
