I have to know. Where did you get the lamp behind the TT?

Here he is chilling on a rug I just picked up:

Also this is a fantastic photo :thmbsp:

Thanks for all the comments. I love my TT setup, but truth is there is just too much music out there for me to rely on one medium. I liked the Benchmark, but the Cary really is in a different league. Plus, the ability to play SACDs and HDCDs is a definite plus.

I just started getting into SACD's, now I know why people love them :yes::yes:

New addition. I've been looking for an SACD player with digital inputs to replace my Benchmark DAC. Really the last major piece I wanted.

I like what you've done. Can we see new photos with all your new equipment changes. I can see a Cary tube amp in the future to complement your pre and sacd. I've always been a fan of the Cary sound...full bodied with big bass, airy highs, and huge soundstage.

I'm a big Cary fan, especially their Classic series. You nailed the sound, and my SLP-05 preamp really makes the room seem twice as wide as it is. I've heard they make great tube amps too, but I'm satisfied with the sweet sound and power from my class A Accuphase.

Twist my arm. Some obligatory Z shots as well..

To make room for the cd I moved the amp to the floor, which was probably a good thing as it was really too heavy for the furniture it was on.

Getting rid of the Benchmark DAC also let me hide the Mac Mini under the corner table. I installed an SSD and added an external 1 TB hd for all my AIFF files. Using Puremusic for playback. No monitor - I control everything through screen sharing or the Remote app.

I also have an airport express under my couch which I use to stream Pandora or MOG. The Mac Mini is using the toslink in on the Cary 306, so I connect the ae to a Monarchy DIP and run it coaxial to the 306.

Moved the bookcase further from the wall. Not sure why I didn't do this from the start.

Some new shades arrived to help tame the room a bit. I'll drop them when I want to do some serious listening.

I'll slide the chair over too..

The finished product..

Well, not quite finished. A few additional tweaks coming up before I'm officially done:

-ordered a custom made balanced phono cable to go between the VPI and the Ayre (I had phase issues with VPI's xlr junction box so had to go a different route)
-looking for a usb-to-spdif converter like the Stello U3 or something from Empirical Audio so I can start playing with 192 files (mac mini's audio out is limited to 96)
-add an Apogee Duet to record vinyl to the mac mini
-add a Single Motor Flywheel to the VPI

New pics look great. I just noticed the under lighting on the cabinet. With the new shades I bet it looks fantastic at night.

Wonderful environment! And the amp looks better on the floor too. I see you move your chair for serious listening sessions. I do the same.

Not to slight your Accuphase in any way, but I was just playing with you when you said the Cary sacd will be your last piece. I've heard that a thousand times, and with your Cary pre and source it seemed like the natural progression.

I see you have Dark side of the moon on vinyl. Now for the sacd release.

I bought it at ikea, but they list fairly often ebay. Here's a link:

I use the second one and clamp it to my rack.

Excellent, thanks for the link.........I have been looking for a smaller TT lamp. The one I have is too big, although very nice. But the bulb size gives a very faint buzzing thru my speakers. Not heard while music is playing but I know it is there.

Super nice system BTW!

All the changes look great as does the big Z man :thmbsp:

But Ozzy is getting jealous of all the Z pictures. He demands equal air time, but seeing how he's too lazy to start his own thread I'll toss a picture in here for him :thmbsp:

Should I take that to mean that's he's welcome but I'm not ??? This wouldn't be the first place to say that to me :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Needed to find a better piece to hold my VPI 16.5. I've also been looking for a small bar for the room. By chance I found this on Urban Outfitter's website:

Of course, when it arrived it wasn't quite perfect - the interior depth was about 1/2" to short, so I had to cut out the rear to allow the sliding door to work.

Also had to drill some extra holes to lower the shelf. Worked out great in the end though..
