Unbelievable 10,000+ rock records at a YARD SALE!

WOW - just... WOW. curious, did the seller do any research to understand what he had? to some extent, anyways...

ahhh, no, well I'm sure they knew it was worth more. I think they were just overwhelmed by it, and wanted it gone. They have a new baby and they just seemed like they really didn't want to deal with it. They were the coolest people and I was very appreciative of these amazing records. More for today...oh, the Buffalo Springfield Again record hasn't left my TT, so good...

It is kind of sad that the family had no care for what was an obvious impassioned collection. Great for the OP to make the find and one that I would love to come across some day. I have a feeling I would have walked away with a lot more than 170. I probably would have tried to get them all then sort through the lot latter.

Yeah, for the record...I scored 270 lps. 100 on Saturday, and then when my dealer buddy and I went back on Sunday ... bought another 170.

It was overwhelming, and hot and all the boxes were dusty. I had my Miata convertible PACKED with 100 records AND my son (who waited very patiently) on Saturday. It was completely unexpected, I was just out for a cruise and looking at junk. Would any of you had expected you would run into something like this? I wanted to have first shot at them (there was another buyer there on Sat). So, I think I did pretty well considering that I was completely unprepared. I really didn't want to get involved with all of them, their pricing was good on the first and second cut, it was right now, and I'm feeling pretty good about it. :smoke::music:

The thing is, they were unplayed. I've already moved some on to the people that will listen to and enjoy them. Vinyl is no good on the shelf, you have to engage with it. Fun to collect, yes, but what's the point if you don't even listen to it?

great score! way to go. like you said its way easy to over collect, if your not going to play and enjoy them might as well move em along to someone who will.

Not 10,000+. Those boxes are holding less than 100 LPs. Probably about 2500 in the collection.

There were about 10 massive homemade crate style holders (not pictured), and about 25-30 boxes. 10,000 may be a little high, but that was the estimate from the owner. It was close!

I counted maybe 35 boxes in the picture and with the other crates, could be upwards of 3000+. Either way, its probably more records in one place than most of us have seen outside of our own collections.

How ever many the total is is irrelevant.
That's AWESOME!
Sort of akin to that barnfind antique automobile.
