Unity Horns

Square throat is becoming more roundy....

Coming along nicely Dave. These are going to be a very cool setup.

Getting used to the smell of the filler being sanded yet?

What about duct tape?

Dave,

Bondo speaks with unapologetic authority, proudly proclaiming to the World that it is DIY, while duct tape meekly tries to cover over inadequacies and attempts to curry favor where none should be granted.

Best Regards,
TerryO

Glazing putty can fill any minor imperfections you might have. It feathers out better than bondo and is meant to be applied after you already have some paint on your project. It's basically thick primer in a tube that you don't have to mix a hardener with. It dries fast and sands easy to. It works very well if you have imperfections that need a bunch of coats of primer to fill but aren't deep enough for more bondo.

Now I see why your punked out on the SMAC meeting that was just around the corner from you. Looking good Dave.

Those are looking good Dave. That's a far cry from those ugly blanks you started with!

Markus

Hey... watch what you're calling ugly! :D

I have the same blanks, and believe me - they are pretty ugly. None of them line up quite right, and they have some dinged up corners. Mine have black mold on them, as they sat in storage somewhere in Florida. What I was implying was that Dave does some great work. After all of the milling, filling and sanding he has done, those look great, even with just a coat of primer!

Added a skim coat of glazing putty and letting it dry over night. They say you can sand within 20 minutes, but whenever I have tried that, I have regretted it. My gut feeling is that after another sanding it tomorrow morning and adding another coat of primer, I could be real close to being ready for paint. As this particular pair will end up with hpsenicka after the fest, I may hold off the painting to let him handle that portion. Flat black unities will be on display for the fest. :)

I am going to end up having to build a pair after I hear them aren't I?

I wish that I could be there, as I've long lusted after a pair of Unity Horns, but have never heard them. Dave's should be pretty nice when he finishes painting them.

Terry, if you are ever in the area, I'd be glad to have you over. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of reasons to specifically come to MI unless you like fishing, outdoors, sailing, etc. Or cars...the henry ford museum is a bit of a must see for a car fan. :)
