i cant seem to get the screwdriver head in there to tighten it

Ok,
Now what I'm about to suggest may put your TT out of commission until you get a little screwdriver to tighten that screw.
But the other way to check if it's loose is to pull straight up on that motor pulley. If it comes off, it was slipping and we need to put it back on and tighten it.
Don't overdo pulling up on it, if it's loose, it'll just slide right up.
If it's on there tight, you'll know.

the picture you posted, if i pull up, that piece comes up as a whole but less than a centimeter.

when i try to tighten that screw i can't, it feels like it is already on as tight as possible.

Let's try another test. This involves fingers and moving parts, so be careful.
With everything as it is right now (no platter, no belt), start the motor with the switch, and lightly (lightly) pinch the pulley with your fingers to see if you feel it slipping. The pulley should still be moving with the speed of the motor.
If you feel it significantly slow down then it's probably slipping.

It seems to be moving at a fine speed even with the light pinch.

I noticed that when i switched to 45, the belt was rubbing against the upper prong of the speed selection fork mightily, much more than on the 33, not sure if that helps.

On the 33, the bottom prong was the one rubbing, and not as bad, but still bad enough to slow it down.

The belt naturally wants to ride in the fatter middle part of the pulley. If the belt is rubbing in 45 mode at the top of the speed fork, the pulley may need to be adjusted up just a mm or two. But that shouldn't cause the sudden slowdown after 2 days working.
Ok, I guess we can rule out problems on the motor side of things.
Let's try the spindle. Just try to turn the spindle with your hand - no platter.

Sounds like a belt that's too tall.
It's probably not the exact belt that should be on there - there are plenty of generics out there that are close, but not close enough.

How does the spindle turn? Smooth and easy?

The part on the right, when i twist it with my fingers it spins fine.

Ok, that's good, but now what about the spindle(the metal part that the platter rides on)? Does that spin smoothly?
