Vintage Entry Level Options

Ok, Bryan. It looks like that should just go back into place. The deck just rides on springs like little feet that are unattached to the wood base. You may just need to lift it up and reseat it. From the looks of the mark 2 service manual, there are four in total.

The transport screws should be removed now that it is not being shipped.

You want that deck to 'float' a little.

What do you think? How does it look otherwise?

Did you notice that our fellow member, needlestein, has given upgrade options to that other AT cartridge you were asking about? Apparently, it also runs under a different model number.

Once your content that the deck is in there correctly, we'll need to mount the counterweight - it just screws onto the back of the tonearm.

I don't have a 95, but I love the CN5625AL. I've got plenty of carts, though. I couldn't imagine that the 95 is leaps better. I have similarly outfitted AT's to the 95, however. They're all good/excellent. AT doesn't make a bad cart.

The CN5625AL for $20 is outstanding in its stock form. I've never tried any other styli on mine. I haven't felt the urge. It's that good stock.

Cool, good to know!

What's your take on that Empire 2002 he's got on this pioneer? Worth getting a new stylus, or better off just changing to a different cartridge?

What you'll want to do is first, turn the antiskate dial to 0.

Then take the tonearm off of the rest and let it float out in the free space toward, but not over, the platter.

Make sure the stylus does not hit the deck or the platter or your sleeves or your fingers or....

Get down, and look at it from the side.

The horizontal line of the tonearm should be parallel with the platter.

Move that weight in or out to get the tonearm level.

Once it's level and parallel with the platter, hold the rear of the weight exactly where it is, and turn the dial on the front of it so 0 is exactly on top.
