Virus attack after log in

No crashes or trojan virus stuff, however, I was getting those "Server Too-Busty" pages off and on throughout last week. I was also having issues with my Google Chrome browser and getting that "She's dead, Jim..." message when logging off, but that seemed to be a combination of that dang Bing toolbar extension and the fact that I hadn't tossed my cookies in quite some time... (I forgot... Been kinda' busy...). I run Avast free plus a spyware-blocker, and I've had very-good luck regarding viruses and that sort of thing. I must say though.... I've had very-good luck on AK overall.... especially in comparison to other forum sites I've visited (one of the reasons I love AK).

Yeah, whoops... I accidentally hit 2 keys at once. I almost went back and made fun of it, but I figured someone else would do it for me and say something like, "Yeah, you probably thought you were on some porn site instead of AK, dude..." or something along those lines ("No, seriously...That server really-WAS too-busty.... Damn, I did it again! Dang keyboard!").

I tried working in a restaurant, but I couldn't concentrate... 2-many distractions. :D

I also got hit with the rogue anti virus program.....while logging into AK on my laptop. Hit the power button as soon as it happened. But it disabled my anti virus. I had to reformat my computer afterwards.

This was witnessed by another AK'er that was over. It 100% came from AK....one of those damn adds.


Too many people saying the same thing...people need to stop saying its something wrong with our computers.

This was using Firefox.

FWIW it seems to be a java or a flash attack.
 
Out of curiosity,is this something that could be lurking in my laptop now.I have a PC that runs Microsoft Security Essentials,I scan ever couple of days.I had no alarms,but very slow loading of the site one day last week ..can not recall which day.I am very limited in computer skills,and knowledge.I guess I am asking if there is something any of you more knowledgeable could suggest to double check beyond MSE scan,and for future issues to bolster my protection....this is about the only site my computer is on other then e-bay and weather.com.Thanks,Kerry
 
The last time I remember this happening, there were posts insisting "it's not AK". People seemed kind of defensive about it. Then a day or two later, AK was down for maintenance to fix the problem.
 
I highly doubt it's a problem with all of our computers rather than AK. People shouldn't get so uptight. It happens to a lot of websites; it's not a matter of if, but when this site would be hit. People should just take caution and update their antivirus/malware software and take the appropriate actions when alerted.
 
I got slammed with a something last week that kept throwing pop-ups saying I had many infected files. It was called Win 7 Antivirus 2012. It trashed one of my laptops. It even came up when I booted in safe mode. It prevents you from opening restore. I put in a SD chip to try and grab a data file and it shut the computer down. It even blocked firefox and Internet Explorer from opening. It broke Avast and it had to be reinstalled. I finally was able to do a restore from a safe mode boot. Avast found four infected files so I did a boot time scan and it found more. How many I'm not sure because I didn't watch the whole scan I just approved deletion of infected files. When the computer rebooted I could not open any programs. It just showed the whirling circle and nothing happened. I have file access so I'm going to have to grab everything I need off it and do a full restore.

I moved my business data and shipping program to another computer last night and all was well. I was not positive the virus came from AK until late this morning. I did not go to any other websites since setting up the computer. I opened AK and I got an Avast Alarm and immediately got 3 pop ups saying WIN 7 Virus 2012 listing infected files. I think I was in the vinyl only thread.
 
this virus has been doing its rounds for quite a long time now ..if its the one that puts a fake warning and then wants you to pay to fix the problem ...i don't know i have had no attack reports .. i did a full overnight scan last night and it only came up with some old windows crap that is on this same hard drive .. if your anti virus anti malware and firewall is running and up to date and configured properly you shouldn't get any problems ..
 
My Windows Defender was knocked right out when I got hit by this thing. Since had Malware AV installed which caught it 7 more times in the last 4 days. It's really nasty.

Off topic, but... I had a cousin (now deceased) who lived most of her life in Washington.

On topic... I wonder if the "502 Bad Gateway" ad banner I've been seeing is connected to this attack?

Besides, I'm running Slackertosh OS-EX... the superior OS for superior beings.

It's in one of the banner ads that pop up and cycle through on top. My PC just hung for a few seconds when it was changing ads then a security threat warning from windows defender popped up about a JAVA app trying to run with an invalid certificate, but I have JAVA disabled so it can't anyway. I don't know how much money these things generate for AK but if they are going to be virus infected no amount is enough and maybe Grumpy should get rid of them, they're annoying anyway and I will never click on any of them.

Yep, everytime I log into AK my Antivirus notifies me that it has blocked an attack. Something DEFINITELY going on here...

never had a problem here i fear its something to do with widows .. i hope it doesn't invade the linux system i like it here
 
This happened while I click New Posts. It seem to happen mostly at New Posts. The website listed here is one of the few I been getting.
