VU meters on vintage amps

Taken with a coolpix, this is my little Sony integrated amplifer. It is mated to my Polk 7Bs & the sound is wonderful. There is a yellowish/green tint to the meters while viewing in the night. Very relaxing!

Very charming, light-emitting accessory on a set, and looking at its swinging hand makes me feel pleasant! And it adds sense of accuracy to the set's visual image.

I think this block diagram of the MX2000 indicates there is an actual reading from the output amp load occurring.

Certainly, this must be one of the ugly Yamaha's a (deleted?) post earlier referred to. :pistols:

YESSSS!!!! Now that is a piece of gear. In yer face and proud of it!!!!

Not sure if this is true for all Sansui quad receivers, but the meters in my QRX-5500 are not power meters, they're input level meters, like the oscilloscope meter in Marantz Model 4400.

There is an amp I bought mainly because of meters:

The other reason was to check if Technics sounds better when it has discrete outputs instead of their usual ICs. It does.

yellow vu needle meters , yelllow lights , this is a TOTL combination , i will never ever understand why the hell some manufacturer put black meters on their gear.........example of astonishing ones, pioneer rt 707 reel to reel
