Wow!!

I have 5 of those and I paid $50 to $300 a piece for mine.

If yours has the crystal controlled weather band.(set to 162.4 MHz)
it is the earliest version.
Later version had tunable weather band.

It's the tunable version I think but it's still at the g/f's place right now. Did the crystal controlled one still select the band (but really just the frequency as you describe it) with the same band selection switch?

Some need minor work some need a rebuild some good as is.
#1 SAE P102 good as is works great

#2 Sansui 661 needs a good cleaning other wise nice

#3 Sansui 6060 all lights out needs a good cleaning and deoxit

#4 Sony STR 7055 Very clean unit, but has distortion in right side as soon as it warms up. Seems to be in the pre-amp section.

#5 Yamaha YP-450 Speed is off about 1 rpm. Looks like motor pulley has been
polished, perhaps too much.

#6 Sansui 9090 Have not even tested. This is a candidate for full rebuild.
Also no case with it.

All in all not bad for $90. The 9090 looks like a nice winter project.

At the IAVS yard sale? Not bad. I'm sorry I couldn't make it, but was busy selling stuff in our sale. I sold a complete system for $140 plus lots of other stuff.

If that Sony needs parts, I might have some compatible ones for you from a 7035 or 7045 (can't remember which). Or if it is a basket case I might like parts to help fix a 7065. :)

Went to another sale today, came back with a big tool bag full of Craftsman wrenches and sockets, a brand new digital torque wrench, a reciprocating saw, sabre saw, circular saw, a portable drill press, post hole diggers, axe, waterhose, all kinds of good stuff.

I also bought something to carry it all home in:

The D7000Y with the black "compass plate" has a tunable weather band. Outstanding price on that! They are simply fantastic radios, I love my D7000-1.

Cost me a buck.

I had that one new; it telescopes, right?
I picked up a Marantz 1535 yesterday. Nice patina of dust, and needs bulbs, but it works. The tuning knob loses a lot to the "Gyro-Touch", but it does have a nice feel when you spin it nevertheless.

Yes, it's funny, the tape is bigger then the unit until it slides open. Pretty innovative for the time.

Great night at the auction.

This is the first two grabs of about 10.

What a great noise with my little Packard Bell tube amp with a proper preamp attached to it!

Non audio, but I stopped at a church sale today and grabbed this mid century wall sculpture for $2.

From what I have researched it is a Curtis Jere sculpture. One internet dealer has one listed for $1800! If I make a hundred I will be happy!!! Plus the wife hates it! :D

Nice! But yeah, those internet dealers are usually off realistic pricing by about 900%.
List it for $400 and see what happens -

If you're looking at something like 1stdibs.com that's top top retail and then some.

Here's a pair that did $100 this year:

Here's one that did $100 two years ago:

Some of the Jere stuff does demand 4 figures, particularly a design called "raindrops" which is sometimes found as a mirror.

To get the best price you need to find several comps in similar or at least marginally close style so that you can clearly attribute it to Jere. That helps if a buyer is on the fence about it. Jere can be tough as he is all over the map stylistically. I look for his lights and fortunately he was pretty diligent about clearly signing them.

Below is a 50" x 28" William Bowie sculpture I got at a yard sale then later sold at Brimfield this year. Although unsigned, it was a textbook Bowie and the backup comps I had were not necessary. Every buyer that looked at it knew exactly what it was. It too was a $2 buy, likely the best $2 I've ever spent -
