What amplifier and preamp would you buy

If money were no object what amplifier, preamp and speakers would you purchase for your system? :scratch2:

But if I had to choose just one....hmmm.

Amps: Probably a pair of McIntosh MC2KWs for amplifiers, or a pair of yamaha PC5002's bridged to mono, or some Carver Silver Refrence tube amps. Or Halcro DM68's....or all 4, if money were no object.

Preamp: I personally am a fan of mixers as preamps, so I would want a pair of fully recapped, rechipped and modified Tascam M-520 mixers, with the buss outputs of one daisy chained into the buss inputs of the first. That would be 36 stereo inputs, and two excellent MM phono preamps.

Speakers....I am not so sure on. Probably some Klipsch Cornwalls, those massive Klipsch horns (not the khornz, even bigger), and some nice hard to drive Infinities.

for a pre? Maybe a Mark Levinson No26 .....just cause it's purty and I appreciate a nice milled faceplate.

OK.....If money, and space were not a problem, I really think I would want a pair of Klipsch LaScala II's, we're talking $6000 for the pair, in rosewood. The new II's have a real good furniture look to them that would fit into my living room. My wall isn't quite wide enough, so I would need a shorter equipment credenza. Probably a tube amplifier like a Cayen or Jolida, or McIntosh. To tell you the truth, I have been very happy with my Sherwood RX-4109 receivers and since the LaScala presents an easy load, I would try that first. I have been flipping between AR3a's, Altec Valencias and the LaScala's, but we're talking new here.

Ok, this is a bit scary. My name is Rick B. as well, and I too would choose the CAT pre and CAT JL3 monoblocks. A friend uses a JL-2 full range with his Apogee Divas and the amp just keeps on giving. I would likely go a different direction with the speakers though. Maybe Genesis 1.1 or some big Wilsons.

Since I have more money than God, I'd have a second system of AvantGarde Trio & subs, and Audio Note SET with a passive pre.

Since I am from NY I'd buy McIntosh to support the local economy, and a new house to put them in.

styling and sound haven't been bettered, (different yes). Plus the traveling to listen to the Macs, Fishers, Quads,Marantzs, etc.

I would probably have a Crown Macrotech and mixer of some description, it would have to be a Midas, but that would be to big for the lounge.........but hey it would look cool...................................
