I'm not sure what they are, but it appears to me that Pioneer is listed on the the 2 level controls.

I believe so.
We really didn't get to brass tacks because I just wasn't sure.
No normal person will want them, so odds are you that you can score some nice drivers for fairly cheap. I'd think an offer of $20 or $40 if the drivers inside are older Pioneer.

Not many of us are considered normal on this forum, either you have the sickness or have somehow cured yourself! 
If you get a chance to open them up, write down the manufacturer and model number and button them back up.
Tell the guy you gotta run to an appointment so you can get out of there for a while and it will give you time to research the drivers.
You can go to Google and type it in to see what pops up, or you can be specific if nothing is found.
Try:
"manufacturer model site:audiokarma.org"
That search will list links to this site from other members postings/threads.
Hope that might help you a bit.

@doctorolds That my friend is some shiesty **** right there.....If seller lets you open them up be prepared to pay more!! Lots of people arent audiophiles, but arent idiots either! Some Pioneers are worth some good money!! If cheap enough just take the damn gamble...If I was seller and you opened them up and then didnt buy and I had them priced to move Id be pissed for wasting my time....

OK, now this is getting exciting.
These were represented to me as "Old, rare, and the top of the line in their day". The guy at the thrift store said he got them from the original owner who bragged on them.
I'm going back tomorrow.....details to follow.
Sorry I didn't get into the details, not trying to be shiesty, just smart. I don't even know what the seller would be asking, or if operational. To many factors to even consider arguing with you about them. I'd have to be there to determine any move I would possibly make, other than see or hear them, and take a chance based upon pricing.
Man, I'm just giving a suggestion, not the only solution, since many members are not familiar with every old driver produced. If the owner said no to inspection, and said $50 out the door I'd take a chance. Judging me based on a comment/idea to get a member to research a product before purchasing seems pretty harsh. To many variables in this scenario, but I didn't see any suggestions from you other than trying to criticize me. Hope you enjoyed it...

Are the Pioneer PAT speakers good?
I've never heard them, so curious.
As big as they are, they are going to have to be pretty special because there is no way that I can "sneak" these into the living room. If the sound is worth it then I'll fight the battle.
My setup is a Marantz 2245 with Sansui SP2500 and Bose 401.
I'm not a tech but my neighbor is. They are old so there.might be some work / parts required.
