What are you using instead of the Panasonic film capacitors?

I just ran out of my supply of Panasonic ECQ 1uf, .47uf, and .22uf 50v film capacitors.

What are you using that are compact, have long leads, and are preferably 5% instead of these?

In my 1090 rebuild I used the Panasonic ECQ / 250 volts. for example the 1uf :
ECQ-E2105JB
now, I never used the 50V ones so I'm not sure how much more compact they were...nor do I know if the higher voltage rating has an influence on sound...any idea ? I'm very happy with the sound of my 1090 with those.

Thanks for the links Leestereo.

Those are perfect! I hadn't realized that the Wima film capacitors were available in a variant with long leads.

I've been using Kemet R82 films from DigiKey, up to 1uf. 5%, cut tape, 5mm lead spacing. Metallized Polyester, like WIMA MKS2. DigiKey doesn't carry WIMA.

c.coyle, how long are the leads on the Kemets?
The description says "PC Pins" but no length is given.

1uf/63v and 0.47uf/63v both measure 5/8 inch. Those are the only sizes I have on hand. The datasheets probably have this info.

Just from eyeballing them, they don't look any bigger than equivalent WIMA MKS2s. EDIT: Just matched them up against some WIMA MKS2 1uf/63v. They are exactly the same size.

These are the 1uf:

Thanks for that, those Kemets do have long leads, and will be a good alternative.

The leads on the Wimas I have been buying (not cut tape) are only 5mm long.

iPad spell checker.... That's why "what"....

But possesive works too... As in "Wima's current line of film caps are ....."

Plural would imply you need more than one of Wima's film caps to raplace one of Panasonic's film cap.

Actually, I think the possesive is the correct grammar. However, I am an EE and speaky better techy than Engly....

:D

That's cool. This is a pretty weird thread hijack.

anything wrong with using the ECQ Panasonics in 250 volts ? The ones I got from Mouser are 14x14x5 mm with 30mm long leads. (that's the 1 uF).
And how are the ECW different ?
Edit : ECQ are polyester, ECW are polypropylene. Now, what are pros and cons of either :D ?
The Wimas are also polyester. but being rated at 50V they are smaller.
Is it all about the size ?
