What Audio Brand That You Will Never Buy And Why?

I hate LG and am a living hypocrite.

At my lowest financial ebb (unemployed two years recovering from a back surgery, lost it all including home) I saved and saved for over 6 months to buy my first blue ray player. I needed analog out and Pandora... All I cared about. I made spread sheets of features and agonized over the decision. I called LG about their flag ship player bdp390. I was told that they were in negotiations with Pandora and they had acquired the rights. He told me it would roll out in the next firmware update. I even recorded the conversation. I bought. Four weeks later they discontinued it and put the same player in a new plastic shell and gave it Pandora. It was unavailable for mine.

It stopped playing most blue rays within a year (even after installed firmware updates) at a year it stopped playing cd's. I called tech support and they told me to buy a new player.

I did. Not theirs.

I'm a hypocrite because I had to buy a 2012 60" 1080p plasma 2 years old for $250. I caved. It's hanging in my family room. I removed their logo.

I am very sorry to hear about your lost and what you been through, I hope your back is fully recovered and doing well after all that.,

LG is the brand that I've never though of buying because in early 90s my first ever apartment rental came with LG stereo system and it sounded horrible but it may soon to be change because I'm in love with LG OLED UHD Curved Televisions and seriously thinking about it.

At the moment I'm trusting my eyes.... Reading, and now I trust I'm making a wise decision to not read trolling. Hate is a descriptive action. A verb. It's commonly used in the English language to describe the feeling of dislike, abhorrence and disdain. I used it appropriately. Let me use it in a sentence so you'll understand, "I hate the over sensitivity and trolling in responses about hate."

Thanks for the kindness. It's been some time and I'm ok financially. My back has never healed right...

I do like the look of the LG OLED 4K.

Do they even make realistic anymore ?

I guess no one bought it like me !

The "Realistic" brand name started drying up in Radio Shack's product offerings during the early 90's. During that time the "Optimus" brand seemed to be taking its place.

In 1995 the word "Realistic" was, for the most part, pretty much gone from Radio Shack's catalogs.

Ok verb we can agree on. (Extreme hostility toward, detest) just seems a little over the top when it comes to Hi-Fi for me.
Calm down.

Bose, Bose, Bose and Bose.

At least all other cheap junk is priced as cheap junk. Those other brands aren't deceiving the customers into believing the cheap junk is actually high end merchandise.

I've also had very bad experiences with Sony products.

Ditto. Mac is nice gear but every time I've heard them, them failed to impress. More so their SS stuff. But never say never is so true. My wife likes their look so I may have to create a system for her with a Mac preamp.

Every wife should be so lucky to have such a husband!

I'd avoid the old warhorses that have been through the corporate flea markets. Stuff like NEW AR, KLH, Sansui, and Akai and even Dual which now shows up on crappy Asian car stereos.

Incredible. So very few names have escaped the 'brand equity liquidation' thing.

PS Sorry to necro the thread but I can't find the one where everyone posts the weirdest speakers they've found.

I will never buy Mackintosh, Emotiva, Krell or Bryston. unless I win the lottery. Then I'll have one of each, minimum.

Oh, hang on. I already have a Bryston that I bought used, and affordable. Well, OK. Just the other 3, then.

Most Emotiva gear is pretty affordable too, FWIW.

I will always stay away from products that fan boys/girls squawk about endlessly. You know the folks I'm talking about. The ones that spout off in every thread that you need to get this product. It crushes products 10x's the price. There's never been anything ever that comes close. Blah, blah blah!

Beats - because of the crappy sound and ghetto image
Bose - (although I really want a pair of reconditioned 10.2 speakers)...
Teac - never had any luck with any of their products (had a tape deck and an equalizer).

Teac never interested me much but right now they have some amazing offerings.
Little integrated amps and little concentric speakers....swoon.... but I haven't heard them.

I actually know a number of people that love Teac products. A good friend of my father's has a gorgeous Teac reel to reel. :D It's just that I had such crappy luck with them. In fact, I bought the Teac tape deck on his recommendation. He meant well, but it was such a disappointment. :(
