What Audio Brand That You Will Never Buy And Why?

Oh how we're proud...:beerchug:

Did you notice to OP doesn't list their gear or even what they like?

He wasn't really doggin' anybody else's gear, that was later posters. He mentioned a couple of B brands that are low hanging fruit around here, and said his piece on Audio Note.
But this being AK, you can bet that somebody will come along and trash pretty much anything.

You are correct and in fact most threads that are started in a way to have other members belittle other members gear is a troll post.

A 8 year member doesn't know that they are starting a troll post?

Smitty that's why I don't like threads or post that belittle any gear from crosley to sky is the limit. There is always someone on the site that owns it. There was just a thread, Ugliest Speakers that the op posted a photo, it took about five post till someone said "I have those speakers"

The OP is inviting people to step into **** with other members.

He didn't have to personally dog anyones gear, he started a thread that would have no use other than produce negativity. To pit member against member and to belittle audio equipment.

No, the members do that themselves. If you don't like the post, don't partake. Easy Peasy. But everyone feels they have to make their statement and then the bowl starts filling.

Wow, I guess I've been lucky. I had a lot of Sony ES gear back in the 90's. The only thing that broke was the DAT recorder.

Yeah, the older ES stuff lasted a good long time. Some CD players I had lasted 15+ years before needing servicing.

I wonder if anyone is going to avoid any of the gear mentioned thus far simply because of someone's negative comments about it?:rflmao::rflmao:

Doubtful. Though some take things a little too personal.:rflmao:

NAD. Very poor reliability reputation.
Huh. I've had three NAD Amps and had no issues with any of them. Had a complete fail using a Harmon Kardon amp. Liked the sound, but would shy away from another one because of that one experience. Nothing like having great sound and then a useless box of metal - in an instant.

It seems you don't like people talking crap about some brands that they will not buy but in my opinion nothing wrong with that.
Also, who are you to judge for it is useful or not this is internet forum and a lot of things can be waste of time but just to have fun and out of curiosity and nothing to be serious.
If you don't like the post talk to admin to take it down but don't take it personally, everyone have right to say what gear they will not buy or what gear is over price etc.,
I didn't force anyone to participate in this post it's free for everyone to share their thoughts and opinions that may be useful for someone. Why can't we have fun and sharing personal take on Audio manufactures for about Quality, Value and Business ethics etc., Nothing wrong with it!

No I am not Peter - Peter Qvortrup is one of the few owners who posts on a number of audio forums and can defend himself - which he did in the link I posted. He mainly posted on AudioAsylum and a little on Steve Hoffman Forums (Steve also has numerous Audio Note thread since he owns a bunch of it).

The issue is this - no one really knows what happened and Kondo San is dead so you can't really go back and ask him specific questions but he didn't put up any evidence to support his accusations at the time and never responded to the specific details that Peter brougt up. SO why Not? If you are in the right - SURELY you have a scintilla of evidence to back it up. And this was all taken to court and it was looked over and the court sided with AN UK. So in lieu of any evidence I'm not sure what the problem is. I am biased as an owner of AN UK gear and I have met Peter on several occasions over the years - his version of events don't seem illogical in any way and his recounting of the way business is conducted in parts of Asia (me having lived in Korea, China, Hong Kong and what I know of Japan's practices I can certainly see the part about expecting the UK side to buy Kondo amps regardless of weather AN UK being able to sell them.

Personally I believe that account because when you buy an Audio Note UK item you almost always have to pay for it first and THEN they start to build it - dealers stock lower level items but only demo higher level ones. You can hear it at the dealer but you order it (pay up front) and could wait 10 months - as I did - for a turntable (the dealer may lend you a lower level piece in the meantime. It's been like that since I bought my first item from them back in 2003. So Peter's story about them producing items having not sold would no doubt be irritating and financially ruinous.

But if you weren't in the room you don't really know what happened just like when a couple divorces - so I take the products on their own merits.

Back to the original intent of the thread (I think): I'll never buy any uber expensive equipment like Magico, Wilson, Constellation, etc. Why? Because I can't afford it. If I win the lottery, my answer might change;)

I hate LG and am a living hypocrite.

At my lowest financial ebb (unemployed two years recovering from a back surgery, lost it all including home) I saved and saved for over 6 months to buy my first blue ray player. I needed analog out and Pandora... All I cared about. I made spread sheets of features and agonized over the decision. I called LG about their flag ship player bdp390. I was told that they were in negotiations with Pandora and they had acquired the rights. He told me it would roll out in the next firmware update. I even recorded the conversation. I bought. Four weeks later they discontinued it and put the same player in a new plastic shell and gave it Pandora. It was unavailable for mine.

It stopped playing most blue rays within a year (even after installed firmware updates) at a year it stopped playing cd's. I called tech support and they told me to buy a new player.

I did. Not theirs.

I'm a hypocrite because I had to buy a 2012 60" 1080p plasma 2 years old for $250. I caved. It's hanging in my family room. I removed their logo.
